If the same Winky Wright that showed up against and knocked out Carlos Monzon and Sugar Ray Leonard fought Floyd, Winky would've stopped Floyd in 2.

I can guarantee you Floyd wouldn't sit there and let Winky jab him all night. He'd probably upset Winky's rhythm with movement and counter the jab to get Winky thinking. Floyd would drop that jab to the body hard like he did on Corrales. He'd need that type of performance. Same blueprint. Floyd would've probably landed a career high in body shots.

Would Wright's output be the same if Floyd found a way to counter the jab? I think it would dip a little and give Floyd enough openings to steal rounds with cleaner shots landed. I think Wright would shell up just enough at times to allow Floyd to land flashier shots and pile up rounds where not much landed. It would've been a toss-up fight looking back. Wright fans would claim robbery.

Winky had pretty long forearms, when he covered up turtle shell he could cover a large portion of his body and face at the same time. He wouldnt have to move his arms as much as others would when floyd feints low.



plus he kind of hunched over his back too and wore his belt high. Look at how his forarms cover almost the entire body and head at once.

There was some rumors/talk of the fight after Winky beat mosley, fight would have been at 154, Floyd had just had his first fight at 147. I asked Winky later on about that potential fight and Winky said (paraphrasing here) they probed/looked into it but Mayweathers side was never that serious about it and no negotiations took place, everyone wanted to use/call out Winkys name after the Mosley win.
