The fact is, he is too high of a risk for them. Whyte is the best example of a guy that called Ortiz out, Ortiz accepted, then Whyte signed and fought Chisora. A clear duck.
Chisora vs Whyte was a PPV fight in the UK and Whyte made several million dollars for the fight. Chisora was stalling on negotiations so Whyte called out Ortiz at which point Chisora agreed to the fight.

Had he fought Ortiz he would have made like half the money

What would he gain? Rankings? He's already #1

Why would he go fight this guy for half the money and zero benefit? Nobody with any sense would do that.

Wilders fanboys only claim to fame is Ortiz ..a fighter that has never won a world title and even when he faces a journey man still cannot put them away.
Hammer would not last 3 rounds with Joshua lol

Hammer is tough and not a terrible fighter, so it’s not like this result is a disgrace or anything, but at the same time it’s not the kind of result that Ortiz wanted while he’s angling for a Wilder rematch.

As an aside, does anyone else find it strange and annoying the backbeats writes it’s round-by-round recounting of the fight backwards?

Good enough overall performance from Ortiz. But like you said, his defense was below average at times. He was having problems blocking or avoiding Hammer's counter straight right all night. I think that's what stopped him from trying harder for a KO.

Along with the defensive holes the other thing I would put under Needs Improvement for Ortiz is his pace/activity level. It was clear early on that Hammer wasn't going to initiate anything. I would've liked to see Ortiz be more consisitent with his offense. He kept the jab pumping but there were too many stretches (an entire round at least twice) when he wasn't letting the combinations go or throwing anything with any power.

Based on what? He's just as durable as Parker.

Which makes it even more pathetic that none of the other dudes in the HW division would fight him for the past 4 years.
Like who? He was mandatory for Joshua and decided to fail a drugs test

Pathetic Wilder fans and their limited intelligence.

So I get your point. There is no upside in fighting Luis Ortiz. He doesn't currently hold a title, doesn't bring in a lot money to the bargaining table, he doesn't pack enough meat in the seats and he is not box office draw with casual fans.

So what boxer in their right mind would want to fight him; When he is coming to the bargaining table empty handed with no leverage, cards or bargaining chips?

Moreover, aside from whyte attracting any other HW and making good money. He has a promoter in order to sell and push him; Unlike Luis Ortiz who doesn't have that same individual to sell or push his career and agenda.

Whyte has a promoter in Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport. Had Luis Ortiz had a Prime Don King promoting him he would turn the boxing industry upside down.
you are absolutely right. I don't know if it's too late for him to go under a decent promoter for a couple of years, maybe 2/3/4 yrs. Attract some decent fights and make good money for retirement. His best pay is still 500k against wilder, that's far far less than what Miller will get fighting AJ.
Am absolutely sure, Eddie effect was part of the reasons miller is getting paid that much. He honestly do not deserve that huge pay day but it's what it is.
I personally do not believe any top HW is scared of Ortiz. If the price is right I can even fight any top HW, I don't even need 4 weeks training camp.

A lot of folks don't believe the "hype" on Ortiz. It isn't hype, it is simply a good opponent for the top guys. Ask them why they won't fight them? Use him for a tune-up or stay busy fight. Are they waiting until he is 45?

Instead of asking who has he fought, as who has he turned down. The answer is no one. You can't say that about any of the top guys aside from Wilder.
You should rather be asking who has he sent contract too and it was turned down?

it was on record, whyte said Ortiz prized himself out of the fight the first time they were suppose to fight.
You can earn 500k fighting wilder in a titled match and want more money cos you want fight another guy with matchroom.
