Apparantly if u get knocked down heavily then the fight is automatically over. Ive seen wilder fans arguing that the ref was wrong to let him get up and that he shouldnt have been allowed the chance to recover. They won that poll on here a while back for worst fanbase and thats a prime example of why they won it.
Why do people like to say fury was “ko’d“ by wilder?

Well at least I can speak for myself, that I am not one of them. Tyson Fury clearly beat the count. I think what confuses most boxing fans is the difference between a ten count and a ten second count.
Yes, in real time if one was using the ten second count rule, then no he didn't beat the count. However, if you use the referee's ten count rule, then he was clearly up before the referee reached the count of ten.Comment

he wasn't knocked out, but this "not wobbly at all" stuff is ridiculous. dude got knocked to the f#cking ground FFS.
and when he got up and leaned on jack rees, not wobbly, right?
most refs stop that fight. that's just a fact. credit to jack rees, he's one of the best refs in boxing at the moment.Comment

you've gotta be up and ready to fight, fury literally leaned on jack reese with both arms. reese would have been well within the limits of his power to stop that fight at that time, or when fury was on the ground and not moving.
if that fight was in england and it wasn't tyson fury on the ground you bet your ass it gets stopped.Comment

Never out, you can see how he goes down he was never out, he lay there moving his knee side to side having a "**** me" moment. But never out.

I think most refs wouldnt have stopped it. I've seen it too many times where aslong as the fighter is giving cues to the ref that he's fine and plans to get up a ref will let them even if they push it by getting up at nine, some refs will hold off on just calling ten also if they see the fighter just miscalculated the counts pace/just barely over it, but it's usually followed by a look like "cutting it close there". Fury was clear eyed and looking at the ref from the beggining and he got up a nine.
There was no controversy. Most refs wouldnt have stopped it at all.Last edited by SplitSecond; 03-01-2019, 09:29 AM.Comment

Reiss took a little bit too long to resume the fight after Fury beat the count. That was a controversial moment, so was Wilder-Ortiz between rounds 7 and 8. If a fighter beats the count and can stand still then he can continue. Referees need to stop asking fighters if they are okay or to walk to the side or what their blood group is and the New York State Athletic Commission needs to stop having doctors check fighters in between rounds just because they took a few clean power shots in the previous round. Boxing will remain a dangerous sport no matter what.Comment

Don't concern your self with other fights. The ref has a calm head and made right call that's what he's paid for. The world knows he made right decision.
No point in overthinking.it when there's plenty of fights that were stopped too soon to be talking aboutLast edited by hugh grant; 03-01-2019, 09:39 AM.Comment
