So, we jump on these forums and see the phrase "duck" thrown around a lot. Now 99.9% of the time it's just childish, emotional, troll worthy banter. However, fighters ducking fights do happen, and the reasons as to why, the fighter ducked, doesn't change the fact that it happened.

A duck that no one ever speaks of, which I find pretty funny, is Marcos Maidana. Maidana agreed in principle to fight an opponent named Keith Thurman, however, when Maidana was brought in to sign the contract, he was shown a video of Thurman, and immediately refused to sign the contract. There is no duck in the history of the sport as blatant as this.

Next is Kovalev. Kathy Duva went and petitioned the WBC to make Kovalev the mando to Stevenson. The WBC obliged. A deal could not be made and the WBC ordered a purse bid, Duva pulled out. This is a different type of "duck", but a "duck" none the less.

Athony Joshua. This is a bit funnier, because I believe as in Kovlevs case AJ wanted the fight, but for the mere fact that he made a specific request coupled with a guarantee, he makes this list. Requested 50 million and said he'd sign the next day, was offered 50 million and then some, yet he did not except, and gave what the vast majority of pundits and fans view as an illegitimate excuse.

Tyson Fury. Basically had the rematch contract in his hands, and decided to sign with a rival promotion, that to this date has still not worked directly with PBC. but not only that, the Contract that was eventually offered to Wilder (5 fight deal included) was said to be less lucrative for Fury compared to the offer he walked away from.

There are different way to "duck", signing a less lucrative contract with a rival is definitely one of them.

For the Record I didn't include Pac, because I ain't getting in to all that with his fans.

Rid**** Bowe ducking Lennox Lewis may be the most shameful I’ve seen in my time as a fight fan. The duck that goes most under the radar in my time is Ricky Hatton ducking Junior Witter. It goes under the radar because Hatton probably would have beaten Witter to a pulp. But be as it may, Hatton ducked the guy.

If Duva won the purse bid, the fight would have happened on HBO.

But she pulled out of it when a deal couldn't be reached. If Stevenson's backers were willing to go to a bid, they were willing to potentionally lose it.

Weird.....it was close to being signed then Fury signs with Top Rank and boom the fight negotiations come to a halt..

No one knows how much that contract would be worth if Fury doesn't fight both Wilder and Joshua. Not sure why the Duboef statement that the contract includes those fights is getting ignored when people talk about this big money that Fury was going to get.

If you ask me, the TR/ESPN pact almost guarantees he doesn't fight Joshua since that fight only makes ****** money (an amount enough to make ESPN consider working with DAZN) if Fury has the WBC strap.

people have to ignore that fact because it doesnt fit their agenda and give fury a valid to reason duck unless fury is "getting so much money he doesnt need wilder"...they need to ignore to excuse this duck

Espinoza must be reeling after all the news lately especially with Wilder mentioning he is free to fight on any platform. Showtime looks like could follow HBO out of boxing if he's not careful.

showtime isnt going anywhere....that was a dumb comment

in fact its showtime that put hbo out of business....go back to when schaefer was running golden boy and hbo was doing pretty well...oscar came in and messed things up complaining that his guys didnt have "contracts"....thats the old model...the fighters like the newer haymon model...thats why haymon has the biggest roster of talent

haymon took his boys over to showtime and that was that for hbo...they had canelo and that was really it....they were so desperate they had to manufacture golovkin into being some ATG machine in order to build a star

strip away canelo from golden boy and the roster is bare save for some prospects...take away AJ from hearn and the roster is bare

top rank has some good fighters and some good prospects too...but they are having trouble getting crawford meaningful fights that the people want...and i suspect unless wilder or aj is involved theyll have a similar problem with fury

meanwhile haymon has a ton of talent and showtime reaps the benefits of that

wilder also isnt going anywhere...espinoza and al have invested in him and believed in him....hes loyal

I don't like Fury anymore.. he realized in the 12rd what he was playing with.. his life. He will never go to combat against Wilder again.

He's not the only one who realized he was playing with his life. Add his wife,trainer and dad to that list. Almost forgot...his legion of fanboys that don't like seeing competitive fights being made to begin with.

Espinoza hasn't gotten in the way of any fight the way ESPN and their backers are doing, ever. Nor do I think he would.

Fury has already beaten Wilder's bum ass despite only being 70% fit, why would he be scared?
