As great as JMM was, he was never a great WW. He did decapitate Pacquiao, but he lost to Bradley, and he won by decision over Mike Alvarado, and even that fight was at a 143 lb. catch-weight, and Mike Alvarado dropped Marquez too! I'm a big fan of Mikey, and I wish him luck, but I think 140 is where he needs to be, and 140 is lit right now! Adding Mikey Garcia would make it the best division in boxing!

Agreed , Spence would just maul Marquez. Remember Marquez was getting hurt , by Katsidis and Others. Yes Marquez would land punches but he would be on the defensive the whole fight. Garcia is more of an offensive fighter than Marquez.

Don’t think Arum would allow Crawford to face Spence. This is the result of too many damn “champions” in a division. Everyone has a belt so none of the top guys are ever mandatory challengers to other top guys.

Garcia doesn't have Marquez' skill or heart. Marquez, ahead on cards with an injury and blood flowing down his face is given an out and he wanted to KO the guy and he did. Garcia with a nose injury in the same position took the out and wanted to go to the cards. As far as skill. Mikey is good and very sound technically but he's far more predictable and repetitive. He does the same thing over. Marquez was far, FAR more creative with his combinations, was a far better counter puncher and was way sharper. Maybe Mikey has more one shot power than Marquez possessed but that's about it. Marquez is better in every area even the areas where he wasn't great like speed of foot and head movement. Those are glaring weaknesses of Mikey's that could possibly be exposed vs. a sharpshooter or someone with fast feet/good movement.

Marquez would have schooled Mikey. The perfect opponent for him almost. Would Marquez beat Spence at 147? I'd say nah. He was simply too small for 147. I think he's got enough guts to make a fight of it and last the full distance though. Marquez can be hit, dropped and hurt but keeping him there is another thing. He had the most guts of any recent great. He's in Holyfield's league in that regard.

Just when you thought the trash talk was getting bad by the headline... you realize Spence actually paid Garcia a ton of compliments and that the Marquez comparison was fairly legit and because he was asked about comparing the two.
