I say the same thing. Floyd is undefeated, but he's not in my top 10. He's hurt himself after De La Hoya going forward. He handpicked his opponents from after that fight til he retired. He won't even give Pacquiao a rematch to prove the first victory wasn't a fluke. He doesn't have many exciting fights at all. This is partially due to him being in a skill class of his own, but this is also due to not taking on the biggest challenges when they initially presented themselves. I have fighters like Gatti ranked higher than Mayweather....and that really shouldn't be the case....but it is. Gatti had multiple fights of the year. Floyd has ZERO.

Let's just make it a P4P matchup since it would be SOO unfair to match Floyd against the skinniest and least experienced versions of Hearns and Leonard from early in their careers when they were actual Welterweights against the welterweight version of Floyd who was a battle tested veteran in his late 20's and 30's.
not only that, SRL and Hearns spent their entire careers at 147 (Hearns at 154 also) when they were doing same day weigh ins, so size shouldn't be an excuse. If Hearns was making 147 on fight night, then he wasn't too big.

***** the Pac rematch, Floyd should have rematched Oscar instead of running away with his tail between his legs saying "I don't need boxing" only to be beating up bantamweights in his 40's

Roy Jones Jr is another fighter that could have easily made my top 10 (if not top 5) of all time, but is not. He proved to not have what the greats have - which is heart. When he was in his prime, he didn't fight Benn, Calzaghe, McClellan, or give Hopkins a rematch early on when he should have. And when he finally fought Calzaghe, even though he was a shell of what he once was, he didn't put Calzaghe away when he could have. Instead, he fought embarrassingly to a decision loss where Calzaghe could have turned the tables and ko'd, Jones but didn't out of respect for the fallen legend. Also, Jones had Tarver reeling in fight 3, but lost his heart in that fight. I was perfectly ok with his ko losses against Tarver (in fight 2) and Johnson, because those things happen in boxing. I had a problem with his heart disappearing in situations it should have been present. All of the fighters that make top 10 lists, have heart. Where was Jones' and Mayweather's hearts?

He could have given Oscar a rematch too.

he's definintely ranked higher than 40. ray mancini couldn't name 40 better fighters and he knows it, most of these old fighters aren't historians, they just don't have the memory or the grey matter for it.

he's right about tommy hearns, however. old fighters definitely undersatnd that part of it. the biggest issue with hearns would be the dimensions. he'd be half a foot taller than floyd, and have half a foot of reach. floyd would have so many disadvantages on the outside and he'd need to figure something else out. so what else can he do? unlike ray leonard, who was a knockout puncher and rugged enough to take hte fight to hearns when he was getting outboxed, floyd would have to hope his boxing skills worked and that he won on points. couldn't come from behind, couldn't slow tommy's roll when he was getting bold and throwing the right hand, these are the only reasons ray leonard was able to come back against hearns when he was getting his butt kicked.

hearns would have an open pipeline for hte right hand over floyd's left shoulder, it would land high on the head. i can see floyd doing a little jig and going down, and getting finished when he gets back up.

Hearns finished his career fighting between Cruiser and LHW.

He was much much naturally bigger than Mayweather, same day weigh ins or not.

he was taller, yes. But when Hearns was fighting at 147 you can't say he was a BIGGER man than Mayweather when he was fighting at 147.

Especially since Floyd got to hydrate, and Hearns didn't.

Hearns was custom made to beat Mayweather more so than almost any other welterweight. Mayweather might beat Leonard but not Hearns. Hearns's great hand speed and piston like accurate left jab combined with his long deadly straight right would stretch Mayweather out in my opinion.
