why do people perpetuate wilder being "badly hurt" by ortiz

badly? i mean he was hurt...he was stunned....but ive seen guys literally on here like "wilder was out on his feet"...he was the furthest thing from the proper definition of "out on his feet"...and ive seen that said more than once...or twice

wilder got hit with a big shot...he was hurt...stunned...and it put him out of position and the perfect position for his opponent to pounce and be one punch ahead of him

its a position weve seen many fighters in...even the great ones...sometimes guys get stopped in that spot..sometimes they weather it and survive to see the next round

had wilder gotten caught with another big shot during the ortiz onslaught he would have been in some trouble...but he didnt and he wasnt

by all accounts this means floyd was badly hurt and almost stopped by shane.....floyd was stunned and hurt...but never badly hurt and almost stopped and dominated the rest of the fight.....as you can see even defensive/technical fighters get caught....loma got dropped by linares...p4p two division champ ward got dropped....and got up and then made kovalev quit in a rematch....

but all of the sudden wilder is a bum cause he ate a good clean shot and then weathered an onslaught?

absurd...some of you are really sad

    LOL

He was hurt. He wasn’t simply “stunned”...his legs were not steady and he was flailing and clinching. He wasn’t out on his feet tho...he was still seeing the shots and reacting to them. He should be credited for his ability to survive while hurt and to recover.

He definitely got rocked, no question about it, but it looked worse in real time than it did when they slowed it down.

wilder isnt as smooth in the ring as floyd....but wilder was no more hurt than floyd was....in fact id say shane rocked floyd twice better than wilder was hit....his legs were fine imo...and we do realize he has deer legs to begin with....hes just not smooth in there

i didnt say he wasnt hurt...he was stunned and hurt...but it wasnt badly....

as you said...he was seeing the shots and reacting and survived....obviously if he ate another big shot there he would have been in trouble

agreed...thats the thing...when you get caught in the moment and are watching it live you tend to thnk differently than when you watch it again on tv or on replay....

he was def rocked and stunned....but he wasnt in a bad way....he was not in a good situation for sure.....i think thats the thing people cant differentiate

the situation was bad....he had alot of punches coming at him and if he gets hit with another good clean well positioned one hes in big trouble.......but you have to differentiate betweent the situation at hand and how hurt he really was

He has not been dropped at the top level, not sure if he has been by a lower level opponent, haven’t watched those fights. But they have nothing to compare it to other than not getting dropped at all. So when they say he was badly hurt, it was relative to what they’re used to seeing, which is that he can take a punch.

If somrone wobbles Khan, like Algieri did, people pointed it out but no one really cared, because Khan has been dropped like 15 times.

If Joshua gets hurt, we have the Wlad fight to compare it to, where he really got dropped and badly hurt for real.

If Ortiz was anywhere near his 30s and still had the speed he had 20 years ago he bodybags wilder

Unfortunately a man in his 50s can’t pull the trigger anymore at that level

Sounds very similar to the Glove/Chollo affair.

                    100% it is

Wilder cherry picked when he could’ve fought a few years earlier when Ortiz was at least in his 40s and had some speed left
