I have always had a soft spot for Degale. Yes he's an idiot but he always puts it on the line.

It's clear the Badou Jack fight finished him off but he was a good world champ, gold medallist and earned some decent coin.

Go enjoy your money James and don't get punched in the head again.

Don't like the guy, never have. He's one of the most unlikable and classless fighters in the game.

But respect to him for being a gold medalist and a x2 champion. All the best with retirement.

Respect? that was the most pathetic and disgraceful 'performances' to ever end your career on, he didnt even try and win, he was desperately trying not to get knocked out the entire fight and did nothing but stink the place out and hold and then had the nerve to stick his tongue out, talk **** and then celebrate like he had won?

He’s done and just by reading the comments and threads here, it seems like it was a mercy killing.

Hahaha. I don't think he came to survive, I just don't think he has much left to offer.

You like him and that is your right and your choice. I can't stand him. I think he is one of the nastiest most disrespectful boxers in the sport. He brags so much on himself and has trashed and disrespected both Groves and Eubank beyond belief for so many years. He talked to Eubank as if if Eubank was a little kid he was going to spank. I was thrilled that Eubank put a good beating on him like I predicted he would. He can retire now knowing the two fighters he trashed the most for no good reason both have a win over him. Like most successful English boxers he has been wise with his money and has lots of it. He can enjoy retirement and be rich for life.

The bragging and arrogance is part of the sport.

The way people talk on here, fighters have to be at Muhammad Ali's level just to avoid being called a bum.

He's been a good fighter. Won medals and belts. Gone to war. And given us plenty of entertainment.

Good luck to him. He's well worthy of respect. I hope he does retire now, and hope he's looked after his cash.

Needs to retire for sure. He's getting punchy anyway, you can hear by his speech. I think many of us felt that Badou Jack finished him off at the time.

Still, can't knock what he's done. Olympic gold medalist, British, European and 2x World Champ. You can't fluke that. He was very good but tough fights caught up with him, plus some bad injuries and surgeries.

As for his personality, he ran his mouth a bit, especially when younger but so what? there's been far worse in boxing that couldn't back it up like he did, which his achievements show.

He's made good money, nothing to prove and would just become a gatekeeper if he continues
