You're wrong. Stiverne has a great chin. He took Wilder's punches for 12 rounds the first time so Joyce putting him down and getting the stoppage in the 7th is quite impressive even if it's not the prime Stiverne from a few years ago.

Stiverne was always a plodder but he was a lot more fit and aggressive when he fought Arreola. He looked very flat in his first fight with Wilder and he regressed even more in his fights after that.

Stiverne had power and I imagine he still does. He landed what appeared to be very clean counters against Joyce in the first round. I thought he might drop Joyce with one of them but Joe didn't look phased.

Joe is big and appears to have a good chin, he also throws alot of punches. However he is slow, stiff and leaves himself wide open for counters. I'd like to see him fight Charles Martin and/or Adam Kownacki.

More than anything else it looks as if Stiverne lost his desire for boxing ...except for the paycheck of course.

His power isn't explosive, one-punch power. But he clubbed the man almost into an early grave. The referee saved Stiverne, he is probably concussed, looked like he had a broken jaw, and could yet have suffered more injuries that we will hear about later. Joyce is 8-0 with 8 KOs and he's sparred with most of the top Heavyweights, who all say he hits like a train.


He has used the same tactics in every single fight, and they've been effective. He does look one-dimensional, but it's effective. As I said above, I'll take the word of the likes of AJ and Fury over the words of a noob on NSB. I've said Joe would likely struggle with a mover with good timing, or someone who could back him up. I know he has limitations.

You make great points. I also think stiverne took alot of unnecessary punishment. They should of stopped the fight in the third- fourth round.
But I just don't see Joyce having much success in the heavyweight division. He'll get schooled if he steps up to a top heavyweight.

Joyce DESTROYS Wilders second best win. In typical Wilder fan boys style they say Stiverne 'is no longer the same fighter that took Deontay 12 rounds'...….SO DAMN PREDICTABLE.

What happens when Joyce gets hit with a Wilder right hand or has to deal with a slick boxer like Fury? These are real tests, Stiverne isn't.

For a young guy's 8th/9th fight, it's a decent step up/test. Not sure where your logic is. Former champ, albeit faded, but a huge step up for Joyce as this was the best opponent of his young career. I still think a heavy hitter who moves will beat this slow as molasses young gun. But hes entertaining and throws caution to the wind.

but i can respect Stiverne for his heart today...




I think Joyce isnt and he wont be never on the top level, that Stiverne 2012-15 was much better boxer than this Joyce.

Thanks. He's on an upward trajectory and it will be interesting seeing how he performs in his next couple of fights!
