  • Comments Thread For: Wilder Still Targets May 18 Return, Fury Remains Primary Goal

Even with the surprise plot twist regarding his most recent and still next intended opponent, Deontay Wilder insists that nothing will interrupt his plans for a springtime ring return. The long-reigning unbeaten heavyweight titlist has been in months-long talks for a rematch with Tyson Fury, with whom he fought to a 12-round draw in their Showtime Pay-Per-View headliner last December. The commercial success of the thrilling clash of undefeated heavyweights-drawing a crowd of more than 17,000 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and selling over 300,000 PPV units-coupled with the inconclusive ending immediately prompted talks of the two running it back.

Heavyweight got pretty screwed up by Fury's move, but hopefully the addition of Arum won't complicate things too much.

I hope you're wrong but everything about this move is telling me you're right.

In the end, if he ducks the rematch-which wouldn't surprise me after he had that near death experience in that 12th rd.- I won't be too pissed. He had the balls to fight Klitschko when he was still unified champ and he fought Wilder after a long layoff and 2 tomatoe can warmups.

But that only buys you a little time. If he's fighting all bums or even B/C level heavyweights for the rest of his ESPN deal, than he'll have no argument to stand on.

I seriously doubt it because without a purse bid; Which Bob Arum and Frank Warren all but confirmed has been canceled wouldn't stand a remote chance of happening.

In addition to Wilder being forced to fight on ESPN and agreeing to all of the terms and conditions set forth by Bob Arum.

Which may include: A lower percentage of the purse split, choice of venue, date, ring size, gloves, judges, referee and walk in entrance but also, he just may have to fight Tyson Fury in the U.K. Which would definitely be a deal breaker.

Even though Deontay Wilder will be the de facto A side fighter since he is the WBC's current titleholder and champion.

Arum stole the show! He'll probably put Fury in with Rivas or Pulev! Maybe use Jennings as a warm-up?

Doubt it happens. Suspect Fury will fight Charr for the WBA regular or Tom Schwarz so he can be WBO mandatory for Joshua's belt.

Haymon won't let Wilder fight on a Top Rank promotion.

The WBA recently canceled the Charr/Oquendo fight. So we might see Fury fighting for that soon

Arum has got to some how make his 80million back in 5 fights

If he plays it to safe he's gonna have a hard time selling fights and if he risks it with Joshua / wilder to soon there's a good chance he gets knocked out early in his contract.

Hopefully the wilder fight still goes ahead . if we here of whyte brezeele getting pulled you know what's coming
