In the last few weeks, there have been a lot of articles with respect to the subject of Floyd Mayweather, Jr. avoiding a potential date with WBO welterweight champion Antonio Margarito. Very few of these articles have merit, and a lot of them are laced with an abundance of biased opinions. [details]

So true. I agree with every word. I especially like the part about how Mexican fans claim Floyd is ducking Margarito but say nothing about Barrera looking at every opponent EXCEPT Pacquiao. -

Well, honestly, I'm not trying to be racist, but I haven't seen any writers suggesting that Mayweather was ducking Margarito. Whoever wrote that article wasn't thinking very clearly. No significant number of people ever said Margarito was some 'unstoppable force'. Most people just admit he is possibly a threat, and seemingly the best option for Floyd to fight at 147.
If Floyd is 'great' like the article's author claims, then he can prove it by beating Tony. There is no one else to fight anyway. Furthermore, just because Floyd wanted Dlh doesn't mean he's not scared of Tony. DLH pulls in more money than a Margarito fight would. However, the Tony fight will still pull in $8 million, so Floyd really has no excuse.
His time to sign the dotted line may be running out as far as fans are concerned.Comment

If Margarito is such an average fighter, wouldn't Floyd jump on $8.5M like a fly to honey? LOL The title of his article is appropriate, yet he doesn't answer his own question. If Floyd turns down the $8.5M to fight Margarito, then barring some elaborate explanation, it is a dodge. And why would he do that if he isn't apprehensive about fighting him? The guy should answer his own question if he's going to ask it in the title. LOL
The Thomas and Mack is booked in Nov, so it has to be in Oct. Floyd could absolutely switch dates, and Arum could fill a new Nov card and make the fight happen. But Floyd is not interested in fighting Margarito, period. As soon as Arum said it has to be Oct, then Floyd starts repeating "Nov 4th" over and over again like a parrot, making that into a ready-made excuse. Meanwhile, if he wanted the fight, it would happen in two seconds. He made the Judah fight stick, even with the Judah loss, making excuses and repeatedly apologizing for Judah's performance against Baldomir. "If it makes dollars, then it makes sense." Well Margarito is the biggest payday of his career, gift-wrapped and laid at his feet with no strings attached.
