As for me I'm just comparing JCC with Sal and why he's only second to Sanchez. JCC is a great fighter. 2nd in my Mexican list.

xcaret cannot comprehend very much with that response.

Mexico has had LOTS of very good fighters....but no all time greats with the exception of Salvador "Chava" Sanchez....

Mexicans know absolutely NOTHING about boxing, all they know is how to hit and get hit. How many Mexicans with the exception of Salvador Sanchez have you seen that can actually BOX and that fights out of Mexico? It's funny how they all HATE DeLaHoya for whooping on their so called "god," what a bunch of jealous mother****ers!

It's funny how DeLaHoya is hated so much because he has a different style and can actually hit and NOT get hit!

      DeLaHoya >>>>> Chavez

I don't care for how many years Mexico has had a boxing history. It's all quantity rather than quality, they have not had even one fighter that was a actual legend with the exception of Salvador Sanchez.

U mean JCC? By the way Barrera is 5-0 since losing to Pacquiao thats not a sign of fading if u ask me. I think the excuse u meant to use was Barrera had an offnight and lost because of forest fires. The "Barrera is fading" argument really doesnt work anymore bro.

I beg to differ on this opinion. The Philippines has a storied boxing tradition that is waaaay beyond the last 10/15 years. We have been around and had champions since the beginning of the 20th century. From Pancho Villa to Manny Pacquiao. It is just that we have disappeard from the scene of late and have just begun to re-emerge. The reason for the disappearnce is due in part to boxing becoming a bigger business, and the market for Filipino fighters was probably not as big as the United States' neigboring countries who have built in fan bases just across the border. Coupled with the fact that the WBC's Jose Suliman, a Mexican, has favored hispanics in the rankings. Filipino's have contributed alot to the sport among which is famed "bolo punch"- ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bolo_punch ) , a punch invented by Filipino world middleweight champion Ceferino Garcia ( http://www.geocities.com/rolborr/covgarcia.html ) and made famous by legendary fighter Sugar Ray Leonard during his fight with Roberto Duran. It actually thanks to Manny that Philippine boxing has been revived and many more of our youth are looking to boxing once again. Filipino's are also one of the largest migrant groups in the U.S. and we have shown that we will pay to watch live or PPV in support of our fighters and that we will have an affect on the boxing market. Hence Golden boy, Top Rank and several other promotors have started looking at and signing fighters from the Philippines.

Filipinos have had Chumpions not Champions, Pancho Villa wasnt even that good, so basicly the only one you guys can have as a REAL hero for your country is Pacquiao, filipinos dont love boxing that much, everyone knows if there was no pacquioa none of them would be watching boxing. Mexico > Phillipines when it comes to better champions, FACTS, nuff said.

God damn dog, why got so much hate in you. You give Mexicans a really bad name. Stop talking about subjects you don't even know about bro. Boxing back then is alot different than what boxing is today. And we have had so much more than Panch Villa. The point is that we have been around longer than Mexicans and were contributing to boxing long before Mexicans were around the sport. I'm not taking away from what the Mexicans have done for the sport lately because they have contributed plenty and I'm also not like you. I was raised properly and will give credit were it is due. I aint jelous and I have no reason to bring anyone down.
