At what point does tank suddenly become a star by fighting bums? All i read is 'theres no rush, hes young etc' as if taking an 0 would be the end of the road? If i recall canelos done okay financially after taking an early one sided loss? If you don't take risks and get yourself involved in big fights you arent going to become a household name and you dont deserve to be either. Seems as if fans think that one day the fighter is going to roll out of bed and suddenly become a superstar. Most of these guys who 'theres no rush for' usually slip up at some point or their profile never actually builds up that much more than it would have done if they tested themself earlier. He can beat fighters like ruiz for the next 10 years and casuals still wont know who is, at some point youve got to test yourself. Theres no shame in trying and losing against the p4p number 1, you can come again and learn from it.
Why do fighters and promoters think an 0 is going to make them a star?

I've always said he should have been moved along quicker, he wasted his 20s in terms of pro career and his big fights didnt come along till his mid 30s, he wasnt blessed with a willing.partner at middleweight though but anyway i dont want this to turn into a golovkin thread as 99 percent of them do on hereComment

Ellerbee and Haymon have proven they know how to build a star. Besides, when ggg used this plan you didn’t criticize the guys he fought, you just focused on the ko wins.
I don’t understand why some guys on nsb judge an opponent based on whether or not they like a fighter. If Tank were Eastern European or British you’d have no issue with his opposition to date.Comment

Kudos, they are saying that because they want Davis to lose. Without taking into account that the kid is only 24 years old with only 21 professional fights. They want to rush his career before he even reaches his full potential. They don't want him to get more seasoning, experience and more time to develop like their favorite fighters do.Ellerbee and Haymon have proven they know how to build a star. Well obviously Anthony Joshua missed the memo because he did exactly that after unifying the titles against Wladimir Klitschko in 2017. Thereafter, he deliberately and willfully avoided an undisputed bout with Deontay Wilder and didn't have him anywhere near his radar in years 2017 and 2018 because he needed more seasoning and time to develop. Moreover, he wanted to protect his 0.At what point does tank suddenly become a star by fighting bums? All i read is 'theres no rush, hes young etc' as if taking an 0 would be the end of the road? Because boxing fans are some of the dumbest, easily fooled people you can find.
Just take a look around this site and see all the “lowest denominators” roaming aroundComment

A big problem is that US fans and media of the sport are so quick to sh.it on and say a fighter got exposed and wasn’t sh.it to begin with as soon as they take a L and in some cases even if they win a fight. They don’t support their fighters like UK fans do and quick to write off a fighter . If fans drop and stop supporting or being interested in fighters as soon as they take a L of course the people in charge are going to milk that O for as long as possible and try and maintain the fighters buzz for as long as possible.
US Fans and the media are so fickle and and so quick to jump off a fighters bandwagon as soon as they take a L and hop onto the next undefeated flavour of the month. It’s like fans think fighters their fans of are a representation of themselves and if they take a L then their a Loser also so can’t have that and let’s ride the d.ick of the next undefeated fighter with some Buzz , that will make me a winner also , Fans f.ucking cry about wanting the best to fight the best but that will inevitably have one fighter take a L and lose their hype and for the fans and media to talk non - stop sh.it about them , it’s no wonder the people involved in the sport try and ride that 0
In team sports no team wins year after year , even the Patriots take losses and fans still will support their team even if their dogs.hit for long periods of time regardless, Probably because it’s expected even if your favourite team is good they probably won’t win the championship and the chances of them doing
For consecutively is f.ucking slim , But the fans ride for their team through thick and thing . Your looked at as kind of a f.aggot if you’re the type of fan in team sports to jump from the best team to the best team and claim them as your favourite , If you are only rooting For the current best team . It be a good for the sport if boxing fans would be fans of fighters for their entire career not just when their hot
That’s one of the good thing the UFC has done is if a fighter takes a L they don’t completely write them off and act like they never were sh.it to start with and the media in the sport will still hype them up and it makes the fans not care as much if a fighter takes a L because it’s not really a big deal really , because 99% of Fighters Will take a L sometime in their career it doesn’t change the fact they can’t or were never good or great fighters.Last edited by R_Walken; 02-10-2019, 10:16 AM.Comment
