Comments Thread For: Gervonta Davis: I Knew If I Got Early KO, I Could Fight Sooner

Gervonta Davis retained his World Boxing Association super featherweight world title with a vicious first-round knockout of former world champion Hugo Ruiz on Saturday. Unbeaten Davis lived up to his knockout-artist reputation with his 20th win inside the distance out of his 21 victories.

“When I touched the jab I saw his arm was in front of his face so if I threw a hook or uppercut it was right in line.”

This guy might not be media trained but he speaks boxing, when he is in the ring he sees everything because he has a good ring IQ, you don’t just get that overnight. He has been boxing since he was a little kid, I just hope his talent isn’t wasted away with him not being active or him not being pushed into bigger and better fights.

Davis is good but why did Ruiz quit? It was obvious he wanted the ref to stop the fight.

I think he is the goods but his unwillingness to test himself and happy to sit on the shelf annoys me. Plus the effort he puts into subliminaly discrediting Mayweather on social media is disloyal. Not to mention his silence on Lomachenko and his constant missing weight. The fat lesbian should move up

It looked like a PBC format (Not knocking it) but it’s a bit disappointing. Avoid your biggest rival, then criticise them or make fun of them on social media. If they have a bigger name than yours then use it to propel your name.

In Tank’s case it is very very disappointing, the same with Errol spence, destroys Brook and then no meaningful fights, not active enough. Didn’t build up on it.

If Tank isn’t ready for Loma then fine, if he isn’t ready for Farmer then fine, but what’s with the “He would beat them” comments that we then read from people?

I mean I rate Tank highly but the fact that they haven’t kept him active and haven’t look to push him is just plain ******.

There is no reason for him to not fight Farmer.

It's probably because he was the natural smaller guy moving up and had realized he was overmatched from the start, then he had a short preparation and also, he took the fight on short notice.
