And they wasted a lot of that on canelo. Hes only going to fight one good opponent a year so what happens to the other 11 months? The mexicans will pay for one month and thats it. Doubt joshuas getting a big fight this year either, and everyone says hes not known in America so who outside the hardcore fans are going to pay for the miller fight? I hope gennady tells them to go **** themself with their offers, but then again money speaks.

It wont do that well does Jacobs really have any fanbase?Dont see why people are acting like thats some superfight thats going to transform DAZN, like every canelo fight it will put off non mexicans from the sport when the 119-109 canelo scorecards come in after a close fight. They will cancel the subscription after that.

Its a subscription service. People add subs & forget about them all the time. A more reasonable & attainable angle is they need ~1.6m subs a month for the year to break even.

And its worth noting that I believe DAZN is using content across national platforms with some of its content too. Not sure how much of the boxing content they are doing that with thus far, but basically they aren't just taking in money from US boxing fans they are taking in money from boxing fans in other countries...or they will be if they aren't already doing that.
My bad, I’m dumb as s.hit right now

Yeah they need 1.6 subscribers who sign up for boxing who’ll purchase it for the whole year

Seems to be a attainable number especially if you include the other markets they operate in.

but youd think to hold on to them they have to dramatically improve the number of actual good fights they air because right now it’s nothing special and that’s being generous

you sound like a girl raging to find her purse.

What were GGG's amazing fights a year other than Jacobs or Canelo? Oh wait, here's your excuse, "nobody wants to fight GGG until they see their splits on paper.."

Canelo is the lucky star on DAZN. They've based his pay grade by his years of PPV, growing probability, and the May and September dates. DAZN continues to grow, and app carrying technology continues to buffer streams faster than its previous year, so new generation fans wanting to get into boxing as others would for MMA, eventually learn about DAZN's combat world of fighters. That's how DAZN justifies their all inclusive pay grade for Canelo.

You hate these basic strategies for business that you would prefer to want GGG away from DAZN, even though you don't know what they're offering him, and instead you would rather want him on PBC and fight at 168?

Yes I agree with you, GGG should go to PBC Fox and beat Plant for the 168 strap. Therefore, stop theorizing these failed theories about DAZN.

          Everything will be ok.

            Lol. Your good.

But yea for boxing to make sense long term thats what needs to add up.

But its also worth saying its not that cut n dry either along with the different national platforms. Cuz they got more things on DAZN then just boxing so there is more than just 200m to cover. So I think talking like we are talking doesn't do what DAZN has to do justice. I mean they probably got some people who only order it for boxing. Then they got some who are ordering it 50% for boxing & 50% for Bellator so technically you could argue that person is paying $5 for boxing & $5 for Bellator. Or any other sort of division between content so the math is much more difficult to figure out on our side of the details.

Just like with any other platform there will be things that are profitable & things that aren't but that will be sustainable off the profits of the things that are making money. So sh^t is waaaaaaay more complicated than 1.6m subs a month to make their boxing break even basically but its a easy way to break it down with the info we do have.

Right, and supposedly their MLB package is more than what they are paying for boxing. So you basically need 3M subscribers years around to come close to covering. Probably even more to be honest. That is just basically Boxing/MLB I'm taking into consideration. But this is why they will eventually up the price to 14.99 and then 19.99. They are just waiting for the right time. Can't do it so soon as they barely got up and running last September.

Well, getting Canelo also got you Jacobs/Munguia/likely GGG/etc. Getting Canelo gave DAZN some credibility. Did you see their roster before he went to DAZN? It was embarrassing. No one wanted to go to a start up streaming service in the states....But now that they have Canelo, DAZN has become a major player. Getting the Canelo/GGG fight is the best they can hope for and they may get it in September. Then they will be trying hard to get Joshua/Wilder as well. DAZN's US roster does still need to improve but Canelo was a no-brainier signing. Without him, DAZN may have dropped boxing completely in a year or two, or severely cut its boxing budget.

The 200 million budget looks nice, but nearly 100 of that is going towards paying Canelo and Joshua 4 times a year between the both of them.

Is MLB only gonna be on DAZN USA doe? I'd definitely assume MLB content will stream on multiple platforms. Certainly Japan. So again its being brought but if they are showing it on several DAZN platforms that shares the cost more.

Its not a theory, the talk is that the fielding and joshua fights flopped horrifically, i dont see a flood of new subscribers for the jacobs one, not a flood that will continue to subscribe anyway. I dont care if theyve got a strategy, done their maths etc, a lot of business ventures fail and i think theyve overestimated what canelo is going to bring and by offering him such a ridiculous money every other fighter is going to want a bigger slice of the pie, they are probably overpaying jacobs too cause they couldnt have canelo fighting another bum.
