Fury has wins over Wilder & an active Klitschko. That makes his resume superior to AJ, who's best win is Dillian Shyte.

Why should he jump into a wilder fight when he can make an easy 32 mill against a tomato can like Miller? The Wilder fight will always be there so no need to skip easy paydays. And nobody has seen the 50 mill contract so it means nothing.
Because Anthony Joshua was supposed to be the first billion dollar fighter, and scratching that out $25m-$30m at a time isn't going to cut it.

Fighting Deontay Wilder and winning would've made Anthony Joshua the unified/undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, and he was set to see a guaranteed $80m for those two fights. Knock off Tyson Fury after that and Joshua would've had all the belts and cleared the two biggest threats, imo.

The AJ Show goes global, in a real way this time; $50m+ per fight based on where The Champ is staged, with the really major fights blowing through that.

A 5-6 year run (on top of all the endorsement money that will come to him as The Champ) and he'd be about there, likely even quicker than that.

Good for Joshua. High reward with minimal risk. This fight fattens his bank account but only contributes to his reputation as being a paper champ. Not saying he is just a paper champ but it does give the appearance.

Joshua’s Matchroom contract also expired so he was a free agent.

Joshua only renewed his contract with Matchroom and Sky in Late July. The $50M offer came in MAY....

The contract was EXTENDED in July. That means he was never out of contract which means he could never accept the offer.

I'm saying tho, they'll use anything to sell this. "I mean Big Baby is 300lbs! Champ never fought anyone with a 65inch waist."

I know if there was a British contender fighting for three heavyweight belts people would tune in and get behind the guy
I don't think Americans, overall, make a big deal out of the number of belts you have. Likely because they have seen so many fighters have belts but not be that good or appealing or fighters who were really good and crowd pleasing not have belts. It could be for them more about the match up or the impact of the fight. Say Miller wins...well he still has to fight Wilder they would say. Its like they don't know him so they don't care what belts has.

                      He made a shrewd move.
He earned an alleged £20m on the Povetkin fight, and is now assumed to be getting £25m for this Miller fight.

Deontay Wilder's camp was set to pay Joshua just under £35.75m for his guarantee on the first fight in the Fall, with basically £21.5m as his guarantee on the rematch (which would've likely happened this Winter), with Joshua likely able to get another fight (hindsight, this may have been the Fury fight) as undisputed champion before June.

£45m in ten months versus at least £57m over less time (with a third fight having the chance to push the haul to over at least £80m for a year's work)

What's shrewd about leaving half of your money on the table?
