Comments Thread For: Are We Already Building to Terence Crawford-Jose Ramirez?

By Cliff Rold - This Sunday on ESPN (7 PM EST), 26-year old 2012 Olympian and reigning WBC super lightweight titlist Jose Ramirez (23-0, 16 KO) attempts the second defense of his title. Ramirez will play to what is sure to be another packed house at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California, and why not? Ramirez came out of the Olympics seen by many as less refined than many of his teammates, a project to be developed over time...

why do we have these long drawn out buildups to mismatches. Ramirez is not in Crawford's league and probably won't ever be

Ramirez is nothing special, but not like Crawford has any great opponents Top Rank can offer.

It's not Crawford's fault Errol, Danny, Shawn, and Keith DON'T want the fight and keep hiding behind promotional banners

Instead of benevidez this would have been a better fight. I personally think this fight for crawford is behind him kind of like amir khan, nonetheless jose ramirez is good fighter that can punch and box at the same time top rank moving him along to slow.

"A unification fight with WBO titlist Maurice Hooker (25-0-3, 17 KO) is conceivable. A clash with lightweight titlist Vasyl Lomachenko (12-1, 9 KO), who shares promoter Top Rank with Ramirez, is as well. Lomachenko going for a title in a fourth weight class seems an eventual certainty."

Ramirez needs to stay @ 140 until he fight Prograis! That's a good one! Ramirez vs. Hooker is a goodie too, and Teofimo Lopez is coming to 140 in 2020! If Lomachenko fights Ramirez @ 140, after turning down Pacquiao, then that was definitely a "duck" move, and he would be ******, because Ramirez bring way less to the table than Pacquiao! Lastly, Ramirez is not ready for Crawford, at any weight! I think WBO Jr. WW Champion Maurice Hooker (5'11") should seriously consider fighting WBO WW Champion Terence Crawford (5'8") @ 147! Hearn and Arum could make that happen easily!

No we will blame arum. Crawford signed the contract on the premise he’d be able to fight anyone not just top rank fighters. Who else apart from arum would this fight benefit of course he’ll get the blame.

I don't see that fight happening anytime soon. Ramirez didn't seem very anxious to fight Regis when that fight was realistic. I think a fight between the likely WBSS winner between Regis & Josh will be his next big fight late in 2019 or early 2020 or whenever the WBSS final happens....assuming it does happen.

Plus the smart move would be to wait for Loma to move up as since they are both with TR Ramirez would be the likely fight to make.

He's still young so I assume he can make the weight for awhile longer so he should attempt to do that as long as possible.
