Why honor a bet right

Too many people are getting away with these types of bets and it's not fair on posters that do have respect and will honour the bet they have made.
I for one would honour my bet but what's the point in betting people if they just reneg asoon as they lose.

Their needs to be some action taken I think and only the mods can help out with that so I suggest just pleading your case.

The bet was to leave the site, the other guy made alt accounts, so voided the bet.

I don't know anything about what happened here, but I do know that it seems rare for posters to honor their bets.

I've been involved in two bets. One was only for e-points, and the dude refused to pay.

More recently, Bobby Deez lost a bet to me that was for all points, permanent sig control, and permanent ban. He disappeared for 2 months then came back as if it never happened.

These posters should be held accountable.


There is actually a thread in the Thunderdome for posters to reveal bet welchers. Name them and shame them.

Don't make these kinda bets unless a Mod is willing to force the losing party into exile if they won't go willingly. I've been on internet forums on and off for 15 years. I've seen many of these type of bets, and I've never seen a poster leave by their own volition.

Why would a mod, admin, or the owners of this site want to exile anyone? I never understood that kind of request. It doesn't make sense at all. Instead, if I were them, I'd prohibit any bets on leaving the site, period. I'd make such a bet a bannable offense. Got it? Bad for business!

I get that it's of no interest to the powers that be. But was talking from a sense of, there's no point people making these bets if they can just duck them when they lose. It's a pointless act of bravado to make a bet on your account. But nobody ever follows through.

We should have a bet mod. Not me because I'd likely try to figure out way for people to welch to keep them around, not a big fan of bans or exiles myself, but clearly the site could do with a bet mod. Just abouts anyone who enjoys banning folks would do.

I think people have to man up... first step would be not to make these silly bets. Part of growing up is learning to think it through. The other thing people have to learn to do is apologize when they have been wrong...something you showed a lot of class in doing and deserve a lot of respect for.

Robbie could say "Sorry I should not have made that bet I will give you some points, or something like that, instead of trying to continue to defend his actions.

The mods could set up an enforcement division, I just wonder if that sends the right message.
