BUT THIS:

I'm no Kovalev fan but this all sounds strange. Especially that it's coming up so heavy just before his fight. Stevenson beat up girls too and didn't kill them. That defence won't hold up in court maybe it wasn't his best punch maybe it was just a strike maybe nothing happened at all. But it's not like it's going to get thrown out because he didn't kill her with a punch.
