As for Hurd, I’m simply stating facts. Can you honestly say Hurd doesn’t block shots with his face or doesn’t come in as a super middleweight on fight night? Geez, all you gotta do is watch the Lara fight, Hurd was huge and his defense non existent Lara was popping dude’s face all fight long. At least Munguia is only 22 yrs old and still improving Hurd already 28 don’t know how much better that defense gonna get at his age. Also, doesn’t matter if you consider Ali or Smith “real” champions fact is they both held a 154 lbs belt and that makes them champions.
You talking down on Cuellar, but Smith would've never been a champion without fighting a unknown for a vacant belt. If the best you can say about him is he's always been at 154 then your standards are extremely low.

Hurd and Mungina have similar amounts of experience despite the age difference so why should I believe that Mungina can change, but Hurd can't develop? Hurd is taking action to develop and fighting tough fights in the process to really find out what his flaws are. Mungina is fighting guys who will be right in front of him like Inoue and not doing a damn thing differently in any of his fights

Cuellar was never the actual WBA Champion just the regular/interm WBA belt holder that beat the great Claudio Marrero for it, LOL. Liam Smith actually was the legit 154 lbs Champion for the WBO and lost it to Canelo. So yeah I put more clout on Liam Smith name than an interm belt holder like Cuellar. Also, go watch Hurd last fight on YouTube against that bum Welborn tell me Hurd ain’t blocking shots with his face before he KO’s the Brit. C’mon, Hurd defense was non existent his last couple of fights only reason he been able to KO his opponents is b/c he ballons up to a super middleweight @ 28 yrs old dude is what he is a weight bully. Munguia is 6 yrs younger than Hurd has already shown improvement on his offensive repertoire and continues to beat everyone that is put in front of him not to mention has shown a willingness to learn. Yeah, I put my money on Munguia that his defense will be a whole lot better once he the same age Hurd is now.

In Hurd's last fight he was trying to fight off of the back foot. He got hit because he was trying to develop a different skillset, but wellborne wasn't the fighter to do it with because Hurd's normal style was more than enough to knock him out, as evidenced by the knock out. He maybe better at certain things by 28, but by then I expect him to be a journeyman unless they continue to hide him from the real 154 champs until they move up.

          .

We agree Hurd normal style is ploddering his opponents due to his weight advantage on fight night rather than actual skills, nuff said. Also, seeing how Munguia is being lined up to fight Canelo within the next 2 yrs or so I expect Munguia’s resume to be superior to Hurd’s by the time he’s 28 yrs old especially w/t all the talent DAZN is pilling up @ 160. Although, by that time Hurd will be 34 yrs old no longer able to make 154 lbs fighting men his actual size with a couple of loses to his name w/t a speech impediment like Jermaine Taylor after blocking all those punches w/t his head.

If Hurd is gonna be like that at 34 Mungina is gonna be a damn vegetable lol. Or he gone be like Timmy from South Park only able to say JAIME! If he is being shaped for 160 then this is definitely the last were gonna hear from him because his size advantage will be gone a,d he will have to fight guys who actually get out of the way of punches.

Really, who of substance can you see him beating at 154 or 160 right now?

Wrong... the thing about Munguia is that his body has yet to fully develop by the time he’s in his mid 20’s he’ll have reached his physical prime like most athletes do. By then the kid will be ready to hold his own against the Jacobs, Andrade, Canelo, Charlo’s or any other MW who will be in their mid to early 30’s. As for who do I think Munguia beats right now Harrison is one, I didn’t have him beating Charlo his last fight. Harrison lacks power no matter Munguia’s lack of defense Tony wouldn’t be able to hurt him. JRock is another one, so is Lubin who chin is suspect at this time.

I didn't have Harrison winning either, but he is just as big as Mungina and with much more skill. And I wouldn't say Lubin's chin is suspect because of a flush 1st rd KO. In that case Badou Jack has a suspect chin and I don't think we would say that.

If what you say about Mungina is true, then he needs to give up that belt because he isn't really a champ. You can't say that he can wait until everyone else is older to fight them, that means he doesn't deserve to be ranked. There is a reason he's fighting on an app rather than getting real exposure, and they have no plans of letting him fight those real 154 killers at the PBC

Why doesn’t Tank give up the belt? I didn’t see him fighting Loma when he was @ 130 lbs, let alone the other 130 pounds champs in Berchelt, Farmer or the actual WBA super Jr. lightweight champ Alberto Machado. Funny how you try to discredit Munguia for fighting @ DAZN when the 2 biggest names in boxing Canelo & Joshua fight there too. Unfortunately for you, Munguia is the future not just of Mexican Boxing but of the MW division as well, kid has a fan friendly style and age on his side.

Tank gave up a belt on the scales lol, but if he isn't gonna fight the big names then he's not a cha,p either. Mungina is Margarito with the pop or plaster. His "fan friendly" style get's him beat by all real champs and contenders, and you forget that when he is 27,28,29 there will be other guys his size and age in the division too. Guys with actual skills so, no, he is not the future of anything and he has nothing special about him to make anyone think that he is.

Guess what? When Munguia is in his late 20’s and fighting “real champs” his defense & skill set should also be greatly improved. I know you don’t believe it, seeing how Hurd defense is non existent and skill level hasn’t improved by his age but not everyone remains a weight bully throughout their careers. There’s Canelo for one who’s defense improved leapes and bounds after fighting Mayweather, so you see progression does happen there’s just have to be a willingness and desire for it and Munguia possesses both. And yes he is the future of the MW division kid has already headline shows on HBO and now DAZN and acquired the backing of the biggest fan base in the sport the Mexican & Mexican-American fans.
