As an Ortiz defender, I am close to accepting that this is his route to retirement. He is basically looking at life like he has to start all over again, working his way up the rankings and fighting on undercards KO-ing club and "C" level fighters hoping for at least one more decent payday along the way. I won't say sad, because unfortunately most of his career has been this. He had a ton of people thinking he was in line to be great HW about 4 years ago, but mystifying career decisions and poor handling derailed that and despite an exciting as crap fight against Wilder he has done zero. I do not buy he is not a name: The Wilder fight had him being mentioned on Sportcenter on ESPN and every major sports news outlet. Every boxing fan knows who he is. I do not buy everyone dodges him. Sorry, but there are too many boxers in the HW division frozen out of the top tier that need fights. I think the right price and some creative thought in the deal could land a good fight.
No, he is not getting the top 4 or 5 HW, all of whom are already lined up for bigger things. But he is name enough he could do better than the last three fights, including this one. I like he is busy, I am okay with Hammer. He is a "C" level guy, but he comes to fight and actually has a better resume than Ortiz. I still like Ortiz and think he is a legit force and will watch this. But.... dang this is irritating. Just a waste of talent. Ortiz is not "B" level talent, but he has a "B" level career so far. At this point, he is simply earning cash and accepting mediocrity.Comment

I don't know? You're probably right! Maybe he didn't see how that worked out for Eleider Alvarez? He never got near Adonis Stevenson! Maybe he didn't see how that worked out for Luis Ortiz? He never got near Wlad nor Joshua! Don't step aside, STEP UP! The way I see it, if he beats Luis Ortiz, then I would actually want to see Wilder vs. Breazeale! If he beat Big Baby Miller or Kownacki, I would want to see him fight for a title! As it is now, no one wants to see him! He wasn't even all that impressive vs. Negron! As small as he is, Michael Hunter might be better than Breazeale!Comment

The unfortunate truth for most great Cuban fighters like Lara, Rigo, and Ortiz, they're not worth the risk, because they don't really sell outside of Florida! So even though Lara outboxed Canelo, he won't get a rematch, or an offer from GGG! LSC swerved Rigo, so he had to go up 2 weight classes for Loma! Maybe he should've accepted Arum's first offer, but it was probably low, because that's what happens to Cuban fighters! Ortiz hurt Wilder badly! Then the long count, etc.! You think Joshua, or Usyk, or Whyte want to risk that? Hammer will do for now, then hopefully Big Baby comes back to the PBC! I would love to see Ortiz vs. Miller, and so would the Barclay's!As an Ortiz defender, I am close to accepting that this is his route to retirement. I have been in the "Ortiz VS. Miller" cheering section for a while. Would LOVE to see that Super-HW fight. The unfortunate truth for most great Cuban fighters like Lara, Rigo, and Ortiz, they're not worth the risk, because they don't really sell outside of Florida! there's being realistic though. Breazele wouldn't beat Ortiz, or Wilder. He's just not nearly as good as his ranking shows. And his defense is pitiful, which would just feed into their strengths.I don't know? You're probably right! Maybe he didn't see how that worked out for Eleider Alvarez? He never got near Adonis Stevenson! Maybe he didn't see how that worked out for Luis Ortiz? He never got near Wlad nor Joshua! Don't step aside, STEP UP! And I'm not trying to hate. I'm a big fan of Dom (as a person. He's a great guy) but he has no chance at a championship unless it's a Martin/Glazkov situation.
As a fight fan, I want to see all of the best fights all the time, but at the same time it's a business. The goal is to get in and get out by making as much money as possible while taking as little punishment as possible.Comment

Ortiz career is even worse then Wilders 8 title defense resume. That's pretty bad. I had Ortiz top 5 , I think his time has moved on, he's not beating guys like Joyce when they fight I can tell.you that and Whyte is probably one over on him now. Better hope he slides in another title fight or he's a sub par fringe top 10 guy after this year.Comment

Can you please explain to me what any of this remotely has to do with Wilder? Any of it? This has to do with Ortiz. Why not make a $5m offer to whyte and see if whyte will not be in the ring 2 days before fight night.
Ortiz fvvking management should send contracts across to other top 10 fighters, they are not handicapped.
Enough of all these wilder boys crying here like little girls.Comment
