Is Luis Ortiz the greatest myth in boxing history?

Yes he jumped ship but its not like eddie was offering him the fight with the joke 2fight style renewable contracts against allens and maliks. And then the wba removing him off mando And rankings based on another bodys findings and not even a final resolution... that was fishier than a skanks panties, lets be honest.
Its cool that ur a fan of whyte and want the rematch, i have no problem waiting for whyte and miller and fury/wilder as long as ortiz is paid attention to and eddie slots him in somewhere in between or even last, although thats a crazy schedule and id expect aj to take a break somewhere and either fight a can or a semi decent guy like pulev (who is ibf mando anyway i believe) or a kabayel, ruiz, helenius, dimitrenko level of opponent to catch a breather.
Now, i do agree whyte has done the best out of him/miller/ortiz trio based on their last 4 outings, but .... do you really believe the aj rematch will be any different based on his last best 2 outings in parker and chisora2? The parker fight wasnt exactly a tremendous performance, and while he was dominant against chisora, he wasnt thaaaat dominant.
Wilder whyte would be a great fight, i would and have welcomed that before. Coincidentally he was offered a 2nd mando eliminator with ortiz and him and eddie declined to fight 'grandpa' ... anyways. Both that fight and aj/wilder are salivating matchups, unfortunately just like aj ortiz that seems to be the one fight that wilders promoters seem to really really avoid even just mentioning, styles make fights and maybe whytes style is all wrong for deontay and he/they sense it? His bodyshots and scrappy style? Miller is similar too. Who knows.
P.S. whyte has the best left hook at hw ever. Not even tua and wlad are better imo. The helenius fight, helenius came in short notice with an injury (arm or shoulder iirc) and whyte still cudnt finish him, helenius was tough as nails tho! One tough sob he is because whyte battered his ribs, body and face endlessly. When they mention ortizs 'bad' performances against allen and malik and mention whyte in the same sentence i like to say at least ortiz finished allen and kauffman even if it took long and he knocked malik down 3 times despite all the running and survival style of fight he came with. The browne fight ... i rate browne unlike many, he is an ex world champ after all against a credible guy in chagaev, even if it was the regular wba title. Sadly in that fight he was out of shape and whyte gave a tremendous perfect performance there, i just wonder what browne cudve done had he been in shape. Dillian would win regardless but it could have been less one sided, more competitive and action packed on both sides.Comment

I agree. The hevyweight division has always been the gold standard especially for marginal fans. My first favorite fighter was Joe Frazier. Although there have been plenty of boring heavyweight fights, I always enjoy seeing them fight live. Hoping this year provides plenty of exciting matchups.
The guys who will be remembered from this 'era' are now at that stage where they should and are/will be all fighting each other. Parker, joshua, fury, wilder, ortiz, miller, whyte, ugonoh. Great stuff man. And many prospects coming up too, in addition to all the a-/b level guys waiting on their titleshots. Breazeale, spong, fa, joyce, ajagba, bakole, ehwarieme, hrgovic, dychko, hunter, yoka, dubois, ruiz, takam, pulev, kownacki, povetkin, browne, teslenko, sirenko, kabayel, wallin, schwartz, rivas, jennings, zhilei, gorman, arias, kuzmin, plechko etc etc Healthier than the wlad era for sure, at least.[/QUOTE]
I will have to agree with you on this.Comment

Again, who is ducking him?
If he's ranked 5 and just lost to the guy at 3... why would 1 or 2 need to fight him to the point he's being 'ducked'?
Whyte is understandably looking at the top 3. Everyone is. Ortiz just had his shot and got knocked out.
We can all quote famous examples of fighters ducking others. But it's massively overused on here for the current era.
There might be a fight that you'd like to see, but that doesn't mean they're ducking if it doesn't get made.Comment

Anyway, seems like the current usyk ortiz and whyte wlad rumors recently were just that, started by youtubers lol. Go figure. Wlad whyte just made no sense. I still think we getting whyte aj 2 nextComment

Hws age a bit later, and he is a bit preserved for 40yo unlike say povetkin who been in many fights and wars and taken damage. No one speaks of his very good defense, even in the wilder fight besides rd5 and 10 he took no damage. He's a freak, and then there's that hunger and drive and chip on his shoulder that he still has for more big fights and title
Opportunities. Look at wlad at 41, looked great.
Still i would be lying if i told you i dont worry he can collapse overnight at his age. The mindset and will are there, but the body can fall apart and stop cooperating completely.Last edited by JSN006; 01-14-2019, 07:07 PM.Comment
