      Floyd retired to capitalize on his new stardom from beating Fishnets dela salad fork and Hatton. He said his hands were hurt but I doubt he needed 2 years for them to heal.

      Posters just mad that Floyd was able to use his persona to make money outside the ring. I wonder why Floyd's financial success bothers so many people with an NSB account?

        Probably to go on a little cycle and rejuvenate his body, seems to make the most sense.

        I bet all these fighters who "retire" that is why they do it.

        You make millions, you go to some top doctors and they make you 5 years younger, heal all of your injuries...Why not?

        At the very least I'm sure that this is one of the reasons.

          Floyd was supposed to be afraid of an undefeated Paul Williams that lost to...Carlos Quintana?

          Sorry. No version of Quintana is remotely comparable to Floyd.

          Floyd was supposed to be afraid of a guy that got outboxed and stopped by a shot Mosley, humiliated against Pacman, and dominated in the Cotto rematch?

          Sorry. Floyd wouldve beaten any version of Margarito - even if Margs used plaster. Floyd is not Cotto. Floyd does not get hit like Cotto did - literally never did.

            Margarito scared him into retirement

            his bleeding vagina wouldn't stop gushing blood so he had to take some time off

            had to focus on beating up on women

            had to focus on his **** sucking skills because it was straining his and Ellerbe's relationship.

                if you have an agenda against floyd and dislike him he took a break cause he was shook of a bunch of guys...and you will never face reality of believe anything different

                bob arum confirmed when floyd bought out his contract with top rank that floyd agreed to fight margarito...but floyd wanted future guarantees for hatton and cotto fights and wanted something like 6-8 total million more than bob would guarantee....so they agreed to split....at the time bob thought floyd was going to work with TR in the future still and use them to promote his fights the way floyd ended up using golden boy to do it...when floyd went with golden boy he became furious and perpetuated a myth floyd was scared even though hes quoted in an archived rafael article as saying floyd agreed......in the end bob understimated and undervalued floyd

                margarito stinks and would be able to beat floyd......as others have mentioned...williams was outboxed by quintana........williams didnt watch tapes of fighters and didnt train to defend....he simply trained to throw punches in volume....a technician like floyd would have picked him apart once he figured him out

                bob wasnt really about to put cotto in the ring with floyd either.....we all know cottos reaction after he watched floyd batter gatti...he said he wasnt ready ....and after floyd left TR and bob got pissed bob wasnt about to make that fight
                You need think Cotto got shook because of the way Floyd whipped Gatti?
                Dude Gatti(rip) wasn’t that good to begin with he got beat by Manfredy & anther lightweight that his name escapes me at the moment...

                Truth is
                I was hyped after Floyd beat Hatton, because now there was Cotto, Williams, Margarito, Mosley, Cintron & Floyd. This was the 80’s all over again.......And what does Floyd do?...... he retires!!!
                Now you draw your own conclusions... And this is why the boxing world has against him. He quit when the going got tough. This right here was his chance to become TBE.... instead he QUIT!!!
                He QUIT WHEN THEY WERE ALL IN THEIR FRESH PRIME/UNDEFEATED....

                  Mosley = Sugar Ray
                  Margacheato = Duran
                  Williams = Hearns
                  Coto = Hagler

                  Who is Cintron....let me guess Chavez?

                  All during the 1.5 years of Floyd's retirement. Yep. The 80s all over again.

                      This and only this , is the truth.
                      Imagine if Sugar Ray Leonard had retired when the Welterweight division had the likes of Benitez, Duran, Hearns, Palomino & cuevas, history would've not been good to him.
