No one on that list beat the best pound per pound? Loma fought a nobody in his last fight, just like Canelo? Canelo fought the so called monster and defeated him. Who else did that? This writers association is against Mexican fighters!

Loma had two fights and both were champs in the weight class and in the top 5.

If you only have one meaning fight in the year it better have been super impressive & a showcase type performance over a high level mfer to get you fighter of the year consideration. GGG is obviously a high level mfer, but it was a close fight that either guy had an argument they shoulda gotten the nod.

Why would you get fighter of the year? You served a PED suspension, had a very close (and debatable) win, then you beat up on a domestic D level fighter.

And yea Usyk was the man this year. Usyk has been the fighter of the last 18 months or so with his WBSS run. That was arguably the toughest tournament field in boxing history & he shined in it.

Maurice has done real well and I'd think about him and Regis (and Josh Taylor for that matter - though he was already established as a player at 140 and just solidified it with the Postol win) as potential breakthroughs of the year.
