Lara deserved the win vs Canelo, plain and simple. It was a close fight, but both the punch stats and Lara making Canelo look ****** so often should have decided it. Many of Canelo's shots didn't even land. As usual, one judge gave basically all the rounds to Canelo. Reminded me of the one judge calling Canelo vs Floyd a draw. Paying judges must cost GBP a lot of money.
    Awesome post. Spot on.

Promoters hate Lara because he's such a hard sell. He had to KO Canelo to win.

Lara did beat Nelo but he did not beat Hurd.

        Charlo beats "this" Golovkin (36).

Hurd beats Mell but Hurd X Mall is 50 - 50.

Mall X Nelo is 50 - 50 but I give narrow advantage to Nelo. Has the deeper skill set.

Hurd may be able to walk down GGG and take him out. Have to see him at full MW first. Would likely be FOTY candidate.

Nelo outboxes Hurd BUT Hurd if stronger at 160 might be able to walk down Nelo.

Andrade has the potential and tools to possibly outbox all of them. People dont like him but they are sleeping on the actual talent. Very versatile and I could see his style adapting to any of theirs. He would be a very tough matchup for each of them.

I like Lara a lot...but I thought he lost to Canelo 7-5, after being up 5-3. Thought he kept his level the same for the last 4 rounds, and Canelo raised his a couple levels, and took the last 4 rounds.

I thought he beat Hurd 7-5, but it was definitely a close fight.

I think he more or less kept it real in the rest of his comments, but Lara needs to realize he has to not let his level drop off if he wants to get these decisions against US/UK/Mexican fighters. Even if he deserves a W he is always going to come up 2nd best against a US/UK/Mexican guy...Lara just brings no money to the table unfortunately.

I like watching him box though and it was nice to see him be so appreciative of the opportunities afforded to him by being a US, rather than a Cuban, citizen.

Yeah that's how I saw it. Lara won the first half, but he took his foot off the gas and allowed Canelo to take rounds because he was doing more. Cubans don't really understand that professional boxing is about entertainment for paying customers. They grow up with only the knowledge of amateur boxing. He thought he won because he may have done if it was scored like an amateur bout, but he just wasn't putting in enough effort to fight in the second half.

Hurd is too limited for GGG, he probably gets stopped or clearly outboxed for 12 rounds. Similar story if he faces Canelo.

I would give 160 Charlo a puncher's chance against anyone at 160 but he shouldn't be favored against any one of the top 5-7 guys. He is probably the most athletic but skills wise he is also clearly the most limited. Unless he lands a big shot, which is certainly possible, Jacobs/GGG/Canelo/Andrade/Saunders all outbox him for as long as the fight lasts.

Lara pushed Hurd all the way, but didn't he get dropped hard in that fight? I seem to remember that Hurd's brute physical strength ended up winning him the fight.

That's basically what I saw as well. Glad others saw it that way. Just felt Lara took his foot off the gas and Canelo showed a lot of heart to me in the second part of the fight. I just kept saying at the end of the last rounds 'Man I gotta give that to Canelo'

Keen to see more Lara, oh hang on no I'm not lol. Honestly I hope he has more fights in his twilight years, he's great but his low action style has cost him wins and that cannot be argued. A move to 160 would be interesting he should try it he still has a couple good years left.

Yeah, and I actually wanted Lara to win. I like slick fast technical skills, but being impartial I could see he was just giving rounds away due to Canelo forcing the action. I remember Canelo did make some adjustments with his feet too, to get his left foot around Lara's right, so credit to him for that.
