Is Virgil Hunter Boxing WORST TRAINER?

All he had was Ward who was a natural talent, would have went on to become and accomplish what he accomplish under any other trainer as well.

Every fighter who switched to Hunter has took the worse beating of their careers under Hunter, none has improved under hunter.

and If im not mistaken Hunter has not made another champion since Ward.

Possibly but lowkey, Eddie Reynoso is probably worst. NOT HIS DAD, but Eddie the son... I listened to him talk boxing and give directions, he just sounds dumb as hell, no depth.

    Other honorable mentions:

    Joel Diaz
    Ricky Nunez / Joe Goosen

I thought he improved Khan. He made him less entertaining but a more efficient 12 round fighter. No trainer is going to change water into wine though.

We see this with a lot of trainers, they have an elite fighter so people talk like they're the best trainer, other less talented, less skilled fighters go to them and have less impressive results, then people talk like the trainer is just some guy who got lucky.

It was the same when Naazim did a great job with Shane vs Margarito. People said he was a genius. Then some of his guys lose and it's "he's overrated". Same with Enzo Calzaghe, Roach etc. After an Andy Lee loss there were threads on here about Steward being overrated, 'why isn't Cintron a great fighter with him? All Wlad does is clinch'

Also disagree that Ward is a 'natural talent'. Of course he's got a lot of ability but so have almost all elite fighters, just on his Olympic team I'd say Dirrell had more natural talent. Ward is a smart guy, he wouldn't have risked his career out of friendship if Hunter wasn't legit.

He is one of the most overrated trainers. Even ****** Khan left him. Does he have any good fighters training with him now? Berto might be his best fighter.

Khan left him when Hunter was hospitalized.

He has Barrios so let's see what ends up doing.

But hilarious how he is overrated when he is taking on flawed fighters towards the end of their prime or flat out just out of their prime.

What exactly was he supposed to do with Berto? Sure didn't make him worse.

Khan had arguably his two best performances with Hunter against Collazo and Alexander.

Angulo gave Lara hell before his face broke.

So I'm not getting the Hunter hate. What often times determines if a trainer is good or not is who they train and when they train them. I bet if he had Andre Dirrell from day one, he would have made him into a champion. Is Hunter the best trainer out there? No, I definitely wouldn't say that but let's not act like he's been dealt the best hand either.

Hope He's doing ok Health wise by the way, heard He had heart issues?
This is exactly what it is. I think he gives them confidence. They already know how to fight. They need a strong figure in their corner to get their confidence back.

How in the world does Joe Goosen make the list ?
                  Joe's a master in corner psychology .

Eddie Reynoso is bad. Lord, I wouldn't let him wrap hands.

Floyd Sr is pretty bad. Horrible in the corner .
And shows up late often in the camp.

                  How about Capitillo ( sp ? ) ? Mr Brick Cement .

                  Donaire Sr is pretty bad.
