On the contrary Mayweather most often starts fast to quickly gain the momentum and respect.

The Mcgregor fight isnt what he usually does. He'll lose some early rounds because he's jumping at an opponent he doesnt have figured out, which has had him eat some big shots early.

I wasn’t even thinking of McGregor and I wouldn’t even count that in as his typical style as he was fighting way differently than he has as Money Mayweather and tbh seemed a bit past it.

He’ll sting you just to let you know you shouldn’t come running in but he doesnt jump on people in the early rounds since he became Money.

        Exactly. Case-in-point: Mosley.

Or he'll start fast and just keep going. Case-in-point: Canelo.

Mind you, Floyd's still throwing. Jab to the body, pull counter, uppercut counter on the inside, etc. It's just he's not the aggressor, but he's at least doing enough to win the round because he usually is too defensive to get hit early on. Judah he was active early, Hatton he was active early, he wasn't the aggressor, but he was still throwing in both fights.

Now compare that to Pacquiao/Clottey and tell me it's the same thing.

To be fair Pac/Clottey was a stinker in its own right and shouldn’t be used as a comparison to anything except how turn fans away from the sport.

Pac was trying to make a fight and Clottey just didn’t want to fight, he shelled up and that was it. Pac was even taunting him by hitting with both hands.

Fine. Broner / Mikey. Same crap. Broner was so inactive that all I remembered was him shaking his head. Not even trying to win.

Mitch Green is another one. That dude did everything in his power to not only try to beat Tyson but to keep Tyson off him when Tyson was coming forward. He was always trying. Then you look at fights like Pacquiao/Clottey where one guy is just shelled up for 80% of the fight and not even trying. That's what I'm talking about.
clottey might have been holding in a massive dump. I think the same for Duran - SRL II.

You think that never happens? Its had to have happened in some fights. Especially when fighters are taking laxatives to make weight.

Yeah that was annoying, Mikey just completely outclassed him. Broner actually has good stamina and a world class chin (Maidana was p4p an elite hitter) but he’s just turned super gun shy.

If Broner would just risks then he could win so many more fights.

A fighter's strategy should be to treat each round as a fight. Win each round, one at a time, focus on that round and how to win it. Always be thinking. Of course this sometimes leads to fighters waiting until the last 10 - 30 seconds to steal a round, which can backfire.

Agreed, but I question whether it's that or it's just a lack of heart with fighters, or the removal of steroids from the mainstream.

Look at Duran when he faced Hearns. Hearns was giving him the business and Duran was eating some VIOLENT shots yet kept coming and kept trying. He didn't win, got KTFO but damn, you gotta respect that heart.

Hagler when he faced Hearns nearly got stopped early but kept going and it paid forward.

Is it just that fighters are now afraid of pain? It's the damn HURT game!
