Yeah I just watched it and saw it 7-5 either way as well.

Just wasn't a whole lot to separate them in quite a few rounds. Korobov boxed smarter and landed the cleaner shots, and his amateur experience shined through for me at times; he seemed to know when he was in a tight round and finished better.

I still gave a couple of those rounds to Charlo since I couldn't really put Korobov up more than 2 rounds at any point. He wasn't exactly dominating himself.

I kept wondering why Charlo wouldn't let his right hand go but I guess Korobov was keeping good distance. Good fight and shows Charlo boxing-wise can't really compete with the top guys at 160, but he is big and strong and would still have a puncher's chance against any of the top guys.

Idk why Lederman gets so much hate...at least he is consistent and favors the more aggressive fighter who does more damage. That is how fights should be scored anyway

The biggest difference is that Korobov realized Charlo was too big to knock out, so Korobov boxed to win on points instead. Whenever Lee did that vs Chavez Jr, he had big success, but he fell in love with his power and went for the KO vs Chavez Jr, which led to Lee getting dragged into a war with the bigger man and getting stopped.

Otherwise, though, a lot of similarities. The official winners were Chavez Jr and Jermall Charlo, but if you judge by who is actually the best boxer out of those names, in a P4P sense, it would be Korobov way at the top (other than running into Andy Lee's right hook, incidentally), Jermall Charlo and Andy Lee a ways below him about even, and then Chavez Jr way at the bottom.
Why is that Youtube video disabled now?

Regardless Korobov should be getting lots of big fights off this Performance Jacobs, Andrade, Lemieux, Charlo Rematch etc, if he beats 2-3 of those level fighters then even Canelo/GGG.

NO ONE agrees with me, but I think Charlo will beat GGG or Canelo, It was tough because Korobov is VERY GOOD, Very hard style, very fast lead left that would be hard for anyone to avoid.
Charlo would have a puncher's chance against anyone at 160, but I think he showed the other night that boxing skills wise he is not on the top level with GGG/Canelo/Saunders, and even Jacobs and Andrade.

Korobov is a really good boxer but size wise I don't think he can compete with the top guys at middleweight. He doesn't punch hard enough to hold off Canelo and GGG for 12 rounds. But I do hope he gets a couple of the other guys you mentioned, maybe he can box his way to a decision against Jacobs or Andrade. Can't see it against Saunders.

And I like Jacobs a lot, but a lot of people seem to forget he struggled with Sulecki who is basically the same level as Korobov. It is hard to KO and dominate every guy you face, especially as you start to face real fighters who are on your level. Jacobs/Charlo would be an interesting fight. If Danny falls asleep he could get KOed.

I give Charlo a puncher's chance against GGG or Canelo. GGG is probably more likely than Canelo to stop Charlo, but also I think Charlo is more likely to stop GGG than Canelo. GGG is getting older and slower, but I see him controlling that fight with his jab and pretty much dominating. Unless Charlo lands something big and wild I just don't see him having a chance.

Canelo would just outbox Charlo for 12 rounds and Cinnamon is young healthy and in his prime...if GGG couldn't really hurt him in 12 rounds I don't see really how Charlo would.

But seriously, I had Korobov winning by one round. And anything in THAT range is fine. But those insane type judge's cards need to spell the end for the bogus and/or crooked judges who turned them in. And it seems lately we rarely go one weekend without having a card with at least one fight with these obviously corrupt results. It HAS to end. These state athletic commissions need to STOP allowing this OBVIOUS b.s. It is literally killing boxing.
I'm not excusing the robberies, but what can we do. These promoters spend a lot of money to promote their guys...to think they will just let them lose a close decision or even a clear decision that could cost the promoter millions/and maybe more importantly time, I mean that threat of judges getting 'paid off' is always going to be there.

Not to mention some guys like Canelo make a lot of money for boxing and are good for boxing in general. If he lost every close fight and had 6 losses no one would want to watch him fight and the boxing industry as a whole likely suffers. So in those scenarios some judges may not even get paid off; they just know which way to shade the fight/rounds if possible.

Kind of sucks but that is just the way it is. BTW I say this as a GGG fan who respects Canelo but thought GGG won both fights pretty clearly.

I still remember seeing Hooker get that robbery on the Kov Ward 1 fight lol...couldn't believe my eyes. I mean I wonder how these judges get paid and no one knows about it...because some of them have to be getting paid.

If a given fighter goes out aggressive; out throwing and outlanding his opponent (landing say 9 of 33 punches) a judge can say that 27% is too low and not effective, and reward the other fighter for making his opponent not connect 73% of the time (Defense). Heck less aggressive fighter can land 3 punches of 10 (all of them of equal force to his opponent), but he'd be rewarded because of a higher connect percentage.

This is just one example, you can go on and on about ring generalship. The point being the scoring criteria is so ambiguous that you can score it in favor of two given fighters for exact opposite reasons.
I hear ya man. But no judge should really score for defense/missing punches. The aggressive fighter has to be rewarded because if he isn't bringing the fight then there is no fight.

The defensive fighter can still clearly win fights and rounds, but he still should be more or less outlanding his opponent. An aggressive fighter missing a lot of punches should be wide open for counters anyway...if that isn't happening then it is likely that the offensive fighter is still being effective somewhat with his punches, even if they miss. He is dictating the fight and forcing the other fighter to fight the fight the aggressor wants.

I just think there are a lot of fights where the spread between scores is not that wide. I can't see how some judges or people could get certain cards or give certain rounds to a particular fighter. For example in this fight, I can't really see either guy winning 8 rounds. I just don't see how anyone could make the case that either guy was twice as good as the other, and that is basically what someone would be saying.

For taking the fight on short notice I was impressed with the soon to be 36 yr old Korobov. I thought he deserved the nod by a point, even a draw would have been acceptable. I would like to see an immediate rematch but Charlo & his handlers will likely avoid it due to high risk with little financial gain.

Canelo and GGG have iron chins. Charlo wouldn't KO either of them.

Charlos have done a good job convincing their fans they are good fighters and avoided. I didn’t see any Lions that night. Tony Harrison wasn’t intimidated and took the title and i thought the Korobov fight was very close. Charlo probably won a close decision, but that one card was way off, they made sure the second Charlo wasn’t going to lose a decision. Lions don’t want any part of GGG or Canelo with a full training camp and drug testing in place
