Ring and lineal are two completely different things. For instance, Vitali was Ring champion, but never lineal champion.

Ring stopped awards titles for decades, but the lineal title never went away. Ring & Lineal may have been thought of one and the same a million years ago, but not any more. Ring gladly admits now that their title and the lineal title are two completely different things.

For this heavyweight era they're pretty much the same thing because at the time Wladmir Klitshcko beat Chagaev the lineal heavyweight championship was vacant and The Ring magazine awarded their title concurrently.

In any case, if I'm not mistaken, if Joshua were to beat Fury he'd have both The Ring and the lineal title alongside his three belts.

This guy is a joke.. he’s been crying for a unification for years and he even gave names to the belts AJ has said they will soon be sister wives to Sophia the WBC belt.

Wilder now says he’s gonna faze AJ out as he doesn’t need him or his belts.

All Wilder's words seem to indicate is that Joshua/Hearn are still on their bull****, not offering a fair value deal.

Joshua was having his name trashed in the US, so he and Hearn set about doing damage control, and Joshua said everything you needed to know when slamming "imaginary contracts" and trying to get Wilder to take the old deal whole cloth.

The WBC world championship and the lineal world championship are the two most respected titles in boxing. Why would he run away from the lineal champion now after a controversial draw? For his own legacy, he must give Fury an immediate rematch and continue his quest to knock him out.

I never considered Wladimir the lineal champion. Vitali was the best fighter in the world. But the thing about the lineal title is that it's not decided by any one person. Even if I personally didn't think Wladimir should have been considered lineal champion, the boxing world disagreed with me. My opinion is irrelevant.

To those who don't consider Fury lineal champion because they believe he retired, I get it, and I'm inclined to agree. But once again, the boxing world has decided otherwise.

No matter how you slice it, Wladimir was considered the man. He unified three of the four titles and reigned for ten years. With Lewis permanently retired, Wladimir assumed the position as "the man." Whether you or I think he deserved it, the boxing public decided he was the man.
