Who is he gonna take that belt from? I doubt he gets past the guys without belts in the top 10 much less the belt holders. I think this kid is hitting his ceiling already and will be more of an Amir Khan than the Canelo that they're trying to make him out to be.

Im not against Benavidez though, i just think Promoters/managers should keep fighters prospects til their over 22yo if they arent going to win against a legit opponent or defend it against nobodies. Garcia is a prospect and should stay a prospect until his body fills out.Comment

Lol Teofimo has shown he's much more advanced it's funny for you to say RG is not far behind. Teofimo could put up competitive fight if not beat Loma and Mickey Garcia RIGHT NOW.
I'll take Haney over Garcia as well. It's not like Garcia is a harder puncher than potshooting Haney and Haney is a much better Haney.Comment

Dont compare the guy to Oscar. Garcia is still fighting cans at that age while guys like Oscar and Floyd were already fighting top fighters by that time. Its crazy how people protect fighters and keep saying they're too young even though some fighters already have over 20 fights. Lets be real, only special fighters are able to compete at young age and beat top fighters.Comment

I think Floyd was 21 when he had his first meaningful fight against Genaro Hernandez. So, if Ryan has a fight against a quality opponent next year like was mentioned in the article, he would be on the same track from a timing perspective. Thought, obviously not saying he will be anywhere near as good as Floyd.Comment

Yea he was 21 in his 18th fight when he beat Chicanito. I don't see Ryan winning a title at 135 anytime soon. 135 is going to be stacked and he would have to face the Loma or Mikey if he still there to win a title. Only way Ryan wins a title at 135 is if one of the titles becomes vacant and Oscar gets the sanctioning body to have Ryan fight for it against some bum like he did for Mathysse at 147.Comment

Well alot of people including yourself need to remember he's only 20 and that was his first fight with Chepo and Eddie Reynoso.
I think he's very talented and can definitely improve over time.
Golden Boy promotions need to be patient with him and match him up carefully.
I don't think he'll be ready for a title shot by the end of next year like Oscar said.
I hope they don't rush him too fast and put him in with a fighter who's out of his league just yet. ..Comment

I like this kid. Handsome, white, cares about his looks... I just can relate to him and meet the requirements for me to support a fighter.Comment

He has a LONG way to go though, it is good that GBP has him back on Undercards because he wasn't ready to headline Skill Wise. The opponent was so bad so we didn't get to see any improvement defensively. Out of his class of prospects the 25 year olds or younger: Shakur Stevenson, Teofimo Lopez, Devin Haney, Vergil Ortiz Jr., Rolly Ramero he comes in last as far as talent in the ring compared to being more popular than those guysComment

s/h/ittiest prospect in all of boxing. Period. He sucks. I seen em get the schalackings in a couple sparring sessions.."They are just sparring sessions, Spada beat May" blah blah, he sucks..he fights bumbs and spars decent opposition.Comment
