How is it 'good luck' when he was gifted the titles
if someone gave you two titles for nothing I'd call you lucky. You'd not believe your luck.
But because its ggg you reverse the facts...ggg is UNLUCKY to get 2 titles given to him. Give me strength.
. 'Good Luck' would have been Canelo facing him in 2016 when he was a year younger and Canelo was a year greener.
Surely its good luck he didnt since he lost all his titles facing him! You read it all wrong. If GGG had lost his titles back in 2015 or 16, he'd have a sum total of 3 defences on his record, not 9. Great luck there!
so.... getting handed 2 titles isnt lucky yeh? ha. who else got that double gift in a 3 year reign?
The answer is between the two claims - that hes a solid world level title holder who got given titles too add to Lemmys one he won in the ring. Hes no fraud at world level for sure, but hes no elite or HoFer either.

Meh. He'll be inducted into the HoF almost for sure, probably first ballot, not that it's up to you or I... whether you choose to call him elite is down to you I guess. Any guy who is a long running champ and is even briefly considered a top P4Per has a claim to that status I guess, but different people define it different ways.
As to lucky. Well, try to put yourself in his shoes, it's not like he was just 'given' those titles out of the blue - he got them because the guys he was mandated to fight didn't fight him... which would you have preferred? The chance to fight Sturm for the real title - which he was so set on he even left his promoter and almost ruined his career - or the virtually worthless title he actually got? You act like he chose the gifted title when in fact the inverse is true. And the Canelo fight... you say he's lucky he didn't lose his titles earlier, but bear in mind he looked better (and got the D) in the first fight than the second so is it really a stretch to imagine that his chances at the W would have been better if he had been 34 rather than 35?
I'm not sure what you think I'm claiming about Golovkin - I'm not saying that he's some kind of ATG, I'm not saying he's some kind of saint who's putting the sport to rights, I'm just trying to rebut the revisionists who are trying to claim that's he's some kind of fraud with a manufactured career who went out of his way to avoid challenges, when in fact he was largely just the victim of circumstance and made decisions based on exactly the same kinda rational risk reward calculations as any other fighter.
EDIT: Oh yeah. And at the top there you appear to accuse me of some kind of hypocrisy - that 'because it's GGG' I'm 'reversing the facts'. You care to point out where I'm applying some kind of different standard than I do to other fighters? In fact I've been, if anything , far more critical of Golovkin over these few years than I have of other fighters in similar circumstances... generally I don't criticise other fighters for their subpar opposition, for not blasting guys out the way they're supposed to, for not trying their absolute hardest to land the best opponent every time out, because I recognise that that is just how the fight game works. Yet somehow I'm a fanboy to some because I don't criticise Golovkin harshly enough. How about that?
Oh yeah. And since we're talking about hypocrisy, you come up with a consistent system for counting title defenses yet?

Why are people acting like Golovkin hadn't been avoided for years? Commentators were mentioning it as far back as 2011. His prime years were wasted by Universum and then started his 2nd phase at 30 years old in America. By the time he got big fights, he hit the age that damn near every athlete starts their physical decline.
He is clearly the best fighter of them if you go by what Vegas judges say on a Canelo fight on a Goldenboy show. Many of us go by who our own eyes told us won and not the judges. There is a good reason Canelo will only fight GGG in Vagas and not in LA or New York. The Vegas judges are famous for being very kind to Canelo in their scoring of his fights.
A lot of guys on here are haters of Canelo, you dont, but a lot of more guys are haters of him.
Canelo is better because he has more skills, he is a better complete fighter and he won the second fight, accept that, man.
The same trainer of GGG accepted the L.
GGG said that the judges selected in the rematch were the better judges of the fight, before his L.
Come on, that was a close fight but the right man won.
Ask Nell if Ggg is a fraud?
When Nell retired and does a best I've faced, Ggg name might come up a lot, with Nell claiming Ggg has best power, best chin, best footworj, best jab.
