before that fight, Dawson insisted that he can make 168 EASY..... and he said it was his dream to win a title at SMW

THAT, is what he said..... I remember VERY clearly

of course, there was a different story after the fight
Yeah, of course you dont believe Dawson saying that Wards team refused even 170 as a catchweight. But why didnt Ward say, no my man, i want to be great and fight for your 175 title. We all know its the only way Ward would agree to get into the ring with Dawson at the time. But thats ok, at least he didn't juice for that fight I'll give him that 😂

I'm not sure that Al Haymon would play along by putting Uzcategui on a GBP card to build up Lemieux. Then again, he might, especially if he believes (as I do) that Jose would probably beat Lemieux... which is why I also think Oscar is unlikely to try to take this route.

One of the central storylines of the fight is Dawson's willingness to cut weight rather than Ward taking the traditional step up in weight to challenge for Dawson's title.

But all along, Dawson has said he not only could make 168 pounds, but that he wanted to do it.

"I've been wanting to go down to 168 for the past year or two," said Dawson, "I make the weight just fine. I came into camp at 180 pounds."

Dawson had many of his early bouts at super middleweight but moved up before he had a chance to fight for a title.

"I feel like now it's time to go down to 168," Dawson said.

"People are so wrapped up about the fact that I'm moving down to 168, but I'll make the weight comfortably and I'll be ready to fight
        ."

like I said..... of course, there was a different story after the fight

They want more shine or build up Lemieux to KO opponents without putting him with the dangerous fighters, they hope to sell the fight of Lemieux vs Canelo as a risky fight to him with that one power punch. Uzcategui is high risk to Lemieux. Also I have those concern of Golden Boy Promotion and PBC working not working together.

He wanted Ward. We all know that Ward always had certain demands of the guys he faced, he wouldn't even leave his home base for years. Ward said himself, he didnt want to move up to light heavy, until he couldnt make supermiddle anymore. And he kept to that, slowly getting himself used to the next division by fighting lower calibre people. Dawson was clearly dead at the weight, Ward couldve insisted to go up for the lightheavyweight title, make it a better fight. Dawson says he wanted it at 170.He never fought at supermiddle as far as i know. Its interesting that in that interview he said he came in camp at 180,because he actually entered the ring with Ward at 185.No way that adds up. After Stevenson beat Dawson, he called Ward out too, who was at ringside. After saying hed make the fight, Ward again said he wasnt going up until ready. He didnt either. Neither did Canelo, even though it meant binning hes belt. Double standards.

Bullshltkin ran around for YEARS saying "anyone from 154-168"

then..... he killed THREE HUGE fights over weight

              just saying

Ward was a GREAT fighter, Golovkin was not

              just saying

Hey, I thought we was talking about Ward Dawson. Chad "i enter camp at 180 but get in the ring at 185" Dawson. Imagine, you rehydrate 17lb from the weigh in to the fight.Ward took the easy way that time. Still a great fighter, but stayed in hes natural division, and hes hometown mostly. He's been talking about fighting Joshua alot, but fighters say alot of stuff.

imagine if Ward ran around for SIX YEARS saying that he would fight anyone from 154-168.....

..... but when shlt got real, he killed THREE HUGE fights over weight.....

..... wouldn't he be a laughing stock right about now ?

I dont think he would be. I remember Hopkins talking about Haye and a jump to heavy alot. I remember him saying he would avoid Ward like the plague. I remember Ward talking about heavy, the Klitschkos, now Joshua. Mayweather himself brought up Golovkin. Haye was gonna be the savior of boxing. Bowe was gonna bash up Lewis. Holyfield was gonna win the title yet agaim because God told him so. Eubank Jnr was gonna beat up Ward and Golovkin. Degale was gonna be the best supermiddle light heavyweight of all time according to him and Frank Warren. Wilder says he's stopping Fury in 3.Hyperbole and boxing are like peaches and cream.
