Comments Thread For: Canelo Open To Moving Back Up To 168 Pounds For Right Fights

NEW YORK Canelo Alvarez apparently has reconsidered his stance on fighting at 168 pounds again. Two weeks after declaring his fight against Rocky Fielding a singular trip to the super middleweight division, Alvarez seemed more open to a quicker return to 168 pounds when he met with reporters Thursday before a press conference at Madison Square Garden.

Sod Cindy Mayo. Let's see if Canelo has the balls to come to England & take second billing to Callum Smith! Alverez isn't the champion this weekend, but he's getting all the attention. Rocky's been massively disrespected by the US!!..........

Callum is a mediocre fighter and a easy fight talking about skills .

But he is naturally way bigger than Canelo.

Go where the fights are. But super middle is to big for him. Even a lot of middleweights are taller than him

There are 4 or 5 good fights to be made for Canelo at middle before he considers the bigger 168 names. Charlo, GGG, Jacobs, BJS, Andrade, then maybe Hurd etc moving up.

If I was Canelo I’d stick at middle for another few years, Smith, Benavidez and Ramirez are big guys and would be a different prospect to Fielding.

As long as there are no catchweights, there's no problem.

I would imagine bouncing around like that wouldn't be good on the body and physically should be pretty difficult to do.

That means not Smith. He may offer him a catch weight. I expect a meltdown from the guys who thought Golovkin and Ward shouldnt have a catch weight fight, despite Dawson doing the same to fight Ward. As long as we get a Charlo, Andrade, Saunders or Jacobs next i dont begrudge him an easy one with Fielding, or Rocky hes big payday.
