What's wrong with Canelo doing a stay busy fight?

He normally fights Cinco De Mayo and September 16th (Mexico's Independence day). This time he decided he wanted a stay busy fight in December. Something to keep him busy.

Naturally, having fought GGG back to back he wanted something easier, but not too much easier while he waits for his real fight dates.

    So what's the big deal?

The other option was his usual 2 fights a year so Im happy to have this bonus fight from a fighter im a fan of. He could have never scheduled this fight and no one would have started to biiitch or think anything of him only fighting twice a year.

I always hated that Oscar, Floyd and Canelo started this 2 fights a year trend. When Canelo announced he would add in a bonus fight it was a pleasant surprise...until i saw all the ****** hate.

I guess he would have been better off skipping this tune up in December and waiting until May. Then again, his haters would find other ways to hate.

He was afraid to fight Vanes or Kell Brook or Dominic Wade or Willie Monroe Jr.

Hell some GennadyCUKKKS give their jizzman credit for Lemiuex and whine that Ca$h could even *possibly* fight him. It's literally hilarious

Same applies for GGG fighting Vanes. Was just a quick stay busy while the Canelo fight II was sorted out.

      No big deal.

Personally I think a boxer should mix it up. Ideally 3 fights a year.

2 against top world class talent, and a 3rd to showcase, earn some cash for you and the opponent, while carrying a few youngsters on an undercard.

If GGG or Canelo are always facing top competition they'll age and get too shopworn. Longevity is best.

Nothing wrong with it IMO, and I wholeheartedly agree two fights a year ain't enough. It ain't a great fight but he is fighting a guy from a higher division with a lot of length over him, and like you say, better than sitting on his ass for 8 months in between fights. I'm not really hot on 'em selling it as a 3rd division title fight, but that's exactly what any other promoter would do so it ain't a big deal.

There is nothing wrong with it at all. Almost all champions are only fighting twice a year these days and often less than that. If Canelo wants to show off and beat up a weak 168 pound champ in a December fight between his usual May and September fights that's fine. I am sure he will fight a top middleweight in May. Canelo is anything but a cherry picking champ.

This fight is fine after just fighting GGG in September. I mean most thought he was done for the year after that fight anyways. No problem with the Fielding fight. Just hope he doesn't fight Lemieux instead of Charlo/Jacobs/Andrade/GGG next.

GGG fans are mad that Canelo is fighting again so soon after his victory, while GGG is still recovering from the punishment he took from king nelo.
