It's one of the best bits of referring I've ever seen tbh, and I thought he was strong all night. Credit to both Fury and Wilder for a clean fight as well.

It is not often you see someone go down so hard, and get up quickly with steady legs.
No, Dean it wouldn't have been fine. You give the fighter an opportunity to get up by administering the count unless the fighter is clearly "Hatton'd."

That is what I meant. The ref saw life in his eyes so the count was good. He went down so hard that if the ref would have waved it off, most people would have assumed he was unconscious. It is always a fast judgement call when a fighters head hits hard on the canvas.

It is why I do appreciate refs like Smoger, Steve Willis and Reiss. They always focus on a fighters eyes, something we viewers never get to see.

he reffed many ward fights and was terrible in all of them. how does the wilder fight change how he acted previously in any way? you are trying to retroactively clear him from bad reffing? how pathetic is that? he ****** in those fights for whatever reason letting ward get away with constant fouls. if he's the greatest ref of all time from now on it still doesnt change those fights but you pretend like nothing happened so this was a waste of time lol

              He’s no Micky Vann.

I swear that guy sunk a few left hooks into the body of Hatton opponents himself

So now we're rewarding refs that give long counts??? Uh uh, not happening. Not on my watch.
