Remember when everyone hated Jack Reiss?

A former poster on this forum turned everyone against Jack Reiss in 2009. Claiming he was a crooked hometown referee that allowed Andre Ward to get away with intentional headbutts against Mikkel Kessler. It was a laughable assertion at the time, but those with low critical thinking skills (95% of this forum) ate it up.

Today, Jack Reiss is the best referee in boxing after giving Fury (a foreign fighter) a count in round 12 instead of waving it off.

    Funny how times change.

Refs like fighters, have good and bad performances. I've never been a fan of Reiss because he sometimes inserts himself into the action and tries to make it "The Jack Reiss Show." However, he completely redeemed himself Saturday night as he administered the ten count rather than panicking (like most refs would) and automatically call the fight off.

Either call would have been fine. If he would have waved it off when Fury went down hard I think most would have been OK with it. He obviously saw life in Fury's eyes though to administer the count. I was more amazed by Fury's incredible recovery power though. It is not often you see someone go down so hard, and get up quickly with steady legs.

You'll never find a referee where you can say they haven't had one bad night or made one questionable call. I've always been a Steve Smoger fan, and someone a few months ago was quick to point out a terrible call he made years ago. Reiss was great Saturday.

how is that laughable? you can clearly see at least 2 of the 5/6 headbutts were intentional.

As for Reiss, i used to dislike him because i thought he talked too much and tried to make it all about himself but i think he and david fields are the two best reff's in the game by a mile atm.

its almost as if refs can have good nights and bad nights and should be judged on each individually....

Riiight. The implication wasn't that Reiss had a bad night. It was that he was a crooked, bought-off referee. But I guess agendas change with the times.
