Ortiz just trying to talk himself into a big money fight. Nothing to see here.

Not against it btw, he's still good.

Fight Povetkin, show your self once again after TKO. But I am sure you won't.

I will pay to see that fight. We want that fight. Real boxing fans ask for the fight instead of bringing up irrelevant topics.
Even if AJ did duck which is doubtful, champs can't duck a mandatory challenger for long or they get stripped. Ortiz could have sat pretty but decided to go elsewhere then cry about it afterwards instead of being patient. Povetkin waited for his mandatory slot and it paid off for him - he even got paid waiting money for the unification with Parker to get made and was willing to wait until after a unification with Wilder.
I agree with you on one thing though, AJ-Ortiz is a fight I'd pay to watch; he's just not top of my list. Wilder has to be 1st choice for pretty much any fan of HW boxing to be in the other corner to AJ. After him I'd be happy to see any of Fury, Ortiz, Miller, Pulev in with him - hopefully all 4 - and in no specific order unless it's a case of catching them before they quit the game.
Whyte and Breazeale have done a good job of getting back up the rankings, but for me all other top ranked contenders must be exhausted before a champ offers a rematch - unless it's mandated by one of the governing bodies.

He clearly blew his load after the 7th round and got beat due to exhaustion more than anything, KO'd!

Ortiz has probably got even slower since the Martz and Wilder fights..... no way he beats Joshua who will inch forward with a high guard countering everything the slower, shorter and lower reach Ortiz throws.

Joshua cleans him out early, it's not competitive. There is no evidence to the contrary.
There is no evidence that Aj "cleans him out early." Ask yourself why is Aj & his team so hesitant to fight King Kong?

I don’t understand why everyone is so keen to shoe horn Ortiz into that AJ fight.

Certainly not ahead of Whyte or Miller. Fair enough if he beats one of them.

I’m trying to think of similar fighter in terms of status afforded compared to actual success in another division that people are so keen to crow bar into a title shot.

I’m not saying he’s not good but it’s just a bit odd.

Even Hunter smashing Ustinov exceeds anything Ortiz has in the win column recently.

If I wanted to root for a voluntary that AJ could lose I think I’d hedge my bets on Miller.
Didn't Aj AND whyte duck King Kong?
