The transnational boxing site which holds the list has fury as retired and dropping the title. I think if he beats wilder no one would begrudge fury regaining it.

Oh really? ESPN doesn't recognize Fury as lineal champion? Weird. Because I watch ESPN all the time and they always call Fury the lineal champion. Same thing on their website.

ESPN recognizes Fury as lineal champion and constantly refer to him as such on TV and on their website. TBRB determines the TBRB champion, not the lineal champion. CBZ doesn't recognize Fury anymore, but CBZ has been overwhelmingly overruled by the rest of the boxing media.

ESPN, Ring Magazine, all the major newspapers, BoxingScene, etc all refer to Fury as lineal champion.

Dan Rafael's personal opinion is allowed to be different than ESPN as a news organization. When reporting news, Rafael refers to Fury as lineal champion because factually, he's the lineal champion.

In Rafael's personal rankings, he removed Fury due to inactivity. Which is his right. But even Rafael acknowledges that Fury is lineal champion regardless of Rafael's personal rankings.
