For sure there are a lot of fanboys on here. Sucking off fighters is bad enough, people need to learn to be fans without white knighting for another grown man who doesn't know they exist. But at least I can appreciate fans getting passionate for their favourite fighter, when they do it for promoters/managers/networks it's weird/sad.
But to give a sensible explanation for it, boxing has more cherry-picking than any sport and has seen more legends screwed over financially than any sport. When Calzaghe left Warren, Warren declared his company out of business and started a new one to avoid paying him for the Hopkins fight and had to be sued before finally paying up. Not surprising fans are hostile to promoters they consider suspect when things like that still go on. Cherry picking and mismatch fights are the worst things about boxing so when a promoter is seen as favouring these even more than the rest do it's understandable to hope they fail and their top fighters go elsewhere.
