  • Comments Thread For: Joseph Parker on Dealing With Adversity Versus Dillian Whyte

July 28th didn't go the way that Joseph Parker had hoped. He entered the ring four months after his first professional loss which came against WBA/WBO/IBF/IBO champion Anthony Joshua. Parker was boxing well until he was knocked down by a head butt that affected him throughout most of the fight. He fought back and even knocked Whyte down in the 12th round but by that time Whyte had built up a lead and was able to secure a unanimous decision victory.

That was a vicious headbutt however I think JP needs to overhaul his entire approach. He keeps saying he is going to be more aggressive and throw more shots but we haven't seen it since we'll before the AJ fight.

Parker is a fighter that can be bullied. He can show a lack of confidence sometimes, he needs to have a bit more belief in himself, he is still young and losing is part and parcel of boxing, I want to see him fight Ortiz, Pulev, Miller etc He needs those sort of fights to get back in the mix.

Its good to correct your mistakes but I don't think Whyte is interested in a rematch.

Parker is lucky he does not have to worry about losing fights anymore. Chisora is another one in this category. Now its time to learn the craft. Chisora does not really have that ability to technically develop. Does Parker?

If I was coaching this kid I would introduce him to movie theatre popcorn and we would watch films of Louis. Parker had the makings but he has to learn how to stalk his man properly. He has to learn to set his punching up, follow through and throw with bad intentions. Louis is the man for him to look at and learn from.

There is no shame in losing to Whyte who is chronically underestimated in my opinion. Whyte gave Joshua a hell of a fight actually. People don't like Whyte but he can fight.

I argued on here that Parker was a gate keeper at best and that he wasn't aggressive enough to win it all. i got slammed on here daily. Now that we see him for what he is, He will never be good enough to be champion again. He doesn't go for it and risk it all in his fights. That's partly because in order to risk everything and go for the kill, he could get KOed too. That is what separates a champion from a regular boxer. A lot of guys box to be OK in a fight but won't take the necessary risks to become the champ. Just look at the AJ vs Parker fight. Parker paraded around the ring for 12 rounds and he was actually happy afterwards saying that he has still never been KOed haha. Pathetic. This has little to do with his trainer and more to do with his heart, or lack there of.

People seem to be forgetting that Parker only lost due to a knockdown that wasnt a knockdown, not only was it not a knockdown but it was a headbutt that left him concussed for half a dozen rounds, in a fight where he was making whyte look like a novice up until that point.

People are also forgetting whyte was literally lying ontop of parker holding on for dear life until the time ran out, which the reff did nothing about.

No headbutt knockdown = parker wins the fight. there should of been an immediate rematch.

You either didnt watch the AJ Paker fight, or just have a raging hard on for AJ.

Whyte is the most overated guy in the heavy weight division. C grade at best, he's proven to be exactly the same level as Chisora. But continually gets mentioned as top 5. He's probably not even be top 5 in the UK let alone the world.

He won the lottery against parker with a headbutt, and still was a few seconds away from losing. headbutt which was the only reason the fight was close. Apart from that his greatest achievement is getting his head taken off by AJ.
