So what stopped Parker from going for the kill against Fury, Cojanu, Whyte and other fighters? Yep, I thought so

The thing about Parker is he has all the attributes to beat a guy like Whyte, headbutt or no headbutt.

He has elite handspeed, can move pretty well and has decent-good power, a good chin and good physical strength

But there just never seems to be any sense of urgency about him, he really doesn't have a killer instinct he's just a good nice dude.

Now you can still have success in boxing without being a killer but it'd require a complete overhaul of his style and teaching him to be a technician.

He's clearly been trained by Kevin Barry to be patient and wait for his opportunity. Same story as David Tua was. Sometimes it works and you find the opportunity, sometimes it doesnt.

If you have ever been in a fight with a Samoan, you will know that they are all extremely aggressive and ready to kill in a fight situation. It takes some serious effort to coach that out of them. I believe thats what Kevin Barry has done, and it probably has removed some of the Samoan X factor from Joe in the process. Regardless he needs a new coach that can put some new tools in his tool belt and redefine his style.

Although even at his current level he can clearly beat Whyte, give AJ the #1 problems, and is easily top 5. so its not all doom and gloom.

He could beat AJ if he had a half decent trainer and developed his style properly.

A lot of the comments on here are right on. He needs to become a more aggressive fighter, and also possibly needs to take a step up in terms of new training and management.

I have always respected the fact that JP didn't duck anyone, stayed busy and didn't talk crap. But something is seriously amiss with Parker - either he hit his ceiling or he hat hit a ceiling and can't move beyond it.

            Move away

He should move away from his trainer, obviously Kevin Barry has done much to improve him as fighter. And often times when they have a big fight he talks way too much to the media giving away their tactics. He just seems he enjoy the limelight you’d think he’s the one getting into the ring to fight and not Parker.A good trainer should’ve learnt great deal from his fight loss to AJ and improve him much against Dillian Whyte.

That's true , AJ fought more conservatively than usual and actually ran from Parker when Parker got inside rather than make like he did vs Whyte.
They both fought a bit safe but Parker as challenger maybe shoulda pushed it more in late rounds, he keeps stating even now how he's proud to have gone the distance and I'm not that comfortable with that.

If hes trying to bank the experience well AJ and everyone else is only gonna better too, world title shot it all has to go on the line IMHO

Parker has short arms that's his biggest problem imo, he can't just jab with these guys unless he has Usyk footwork, he needs to get away from his basic mr one-two trainer as main teacher and learn from like Freddie Roach how to fight at closer range

Fury and Cojanu he was injured, ****** up shoulder and elbow

He was apparently right for Whyte fight but I think a lot of the 12th round KD had to do with 270lb Whytes fatigue, he has respectable power but not sure it's enough for title level considering his tiny little short arms that have trouble win an outside contest even vs Whyte

Whyte gets lots of support here but Parker is clearly better than Whyte. That is not to say he's a great fighter, he's not but he's probably in the top 5 of the current crop.

Can parker make cruiserweight, he could dominate there.
