I've always thought GBP signed Lemieux with the express intent of matching him with Canelo at some point and their actions since tend to support that idea. Course he's gonna get that fight - he's very unlikely to win but it should be an exciting enough scrap as long as it goes and David is a good foil to showcase Canelo's skills against.

I've never much liked your moniker guy, especially after he had his ****** 'talk' with an empty chair. But I do agree with you that this is a retirement check fight Lemieux wants, and BTW will get. Lotta fans don't realize, but he only got about 100k vs. O'Sullivan... whereas O'Sullivan got about 300k. That fight was looked upon as a last chance affair, which Lemieux fortunately came out on top with. And maybe I'm going out on a limb here, but I think the entire boxing industry pre-O'Sullivan fight had written him off. I mean, he did look like crapola vs BJS. He'll have better success vs Canelo, but the end result will likely be the same, a UD loss. For some reason I don't think Canelo even wants to stop Lemieux. I think he and his people know Lemieux is a decent draw on his fight cards, and he wants to keep it that way to help boost ticket sales. I could be wrong obviously, but I think there's at least some reality to it.
