It’s lazy. He’s just taking short casino money in obscure venues. Not sure why he won’t step it up, but maybe he figures if he can’t get Danny Jacobs to sell in NY, chances of those other guys doing any serious numbers is nil.

I think the biggest issue Hearn is facing is the lack of TV. Everyone says TV is dying which is true to an extent. But you can’t draw casuals to an app for boxing they don’t know about. They discover boxing through what’s accessible.

Now, that may change over the next 5-10 years as DAZN picks up more rights. But I suspect that won’t be the only thing that changes by then.

In America, the NFL is most likely going direct-to-consumer with Sunday Ticket in 2020. DAZN would have to make an offer somewhere in the range of 2 billion dollars a year to make them change their mind.

We know that’s not happening. Not even in the NFL’s interest to do that, period, money aside.

DAZN has just picked up Baseball for next year. They want it all.

They picked up a baseball version of NFL Redzone. Fox has baseball for the next 10 years.

Really, he shouldn't be headlining any card, let alone one in the middle of nowhere.

In reality, Hearn's major problem is the lack of names he has in his stable, at least stateside. Like who is a big name? Vargas? Nope. Andrade? Nope. Big Baby? Nope. So he is trying to make the best out of the situation as he can, but he's behind the 8 ball. None of these shows are going to do good numbers or make any sort of dent in the American market. I think this will lead him to have to put Joshua in America once a year for the time being. So one fight at Wembleys, and one in America.
Not sure when Hearn to America for his “Take over” has it been 6 months yet? But I think he would find out that maybe boxing is dying in America. There really isn’t a lot of big names in boxing in America. I think the biggest name is still Mayweather. I would see how he does in the next 2 years. Not sure judging him after 1 year is even fair on his “Take over” promise.

Okay, so this keeps getting repeated quite a bit. But how is boxing dying in America? If that is the case, then it has been dying for a while. Boxing is what it is here. It's a niche sport that is getting invested more than ever due to so many networks needing live sports content. Crawford just did over 2 million in ratings last fight, Saucedo/Hooker at midnight averaged almost a million, Wilder/Ortiz averaged like 1.3 million on SHO, etc. Boxing is fine. Was it doing better numbers say five or six years ago? Sure, but SHO overall did better numbers this year than it did the last couple of years. The PBC shows on FOX will do solid numbers with the big names they are putting out even if the match ups aren't exactly "mouth watering" to steal a British term.

I think we are past Hearn taking over. He's been going after guys since before the announcement in May. Now that GBP is at DAZN, he will never take over per se. GBP has a better chance of getting top talent that becomes available over Hearn. He went hard after the PBC top guns and ended up with.....Vargas as his biggest name? Hearn ignored going after top amateurs and I believe he would have got some of them if he went after them with the same energy he went after guys like Davis/Spence/Broner/etc.

So boxing is not dying? I actually thought you meant it was dying in America and no point in Hearn trying to go around introducing boxing. Maybe I read it wrong..

I think the real issue is that he didn't have much a plan. At least on the surface. He thought if he threw money at the big names, they would come. They didn't. Ultimately, DAZN went and got guys on their own (throwing big money). But Hearn being unable to land names won't change over the next couple years.

DAZN has literally been launched 2 months ? Saying nobody is coming after just two months is ludicrous. Got to give them a chance. I would say having a four belt heavyweight champion and undisputed cruiserweight champion isn’t a bad starting point to work from!
