anwayz back on topic and annorak i actually read all of that post and was very impressed with the way you put it together.
so im gonna stamp my mark on it.
with the exception of 4 fights ricky hatton has fought all hes fights in the uk. you may all understand that the m.e.n arena would sell out in 10 mins just to see ricky reading the paper whilst hes taking a ****. but what i dont understand is this. if ricky was quite content in satying in manchester all hes carear and all the big names coming to him for a generous payday for both parties and he staid undefeated americans would call him unproven because he stayed in hes back yard. then throw practiculy any american fighter in the equation. they stay in there own country all there carear and make good money have a 2nd to none carear and retire and you call him the greatest of all time but we call him unproven and we get called fools.isnt that the same situation as a ricky hatton or a joe calzaghe.
also ppl go watch the 1st four rounds of the mayweather/judah fight if mayweather leaves himself open like that with a big puncher in cotto/hatton or marg its lights out
    Nice one Iron Mike.

I'm not actually a Hatton fan, as such, and can see the validity of detractions (though they're WAY over the top, and wouldn't be addressed to US fighters) but I love Joe Blow's ****.

How anyone can NOW criticise Joe Blow is beyond me...

wow, if you want to bring race into the debate go ahead. i wasnt even talking about the americans deplorable recoed when it comes to race and ethnicity but if you want to highlight our atrocious record in that regard as well go ahead.

your damn skippy it's embarrassing.....I want to be an honorary Limey!!!

I'll take the oath. Never again will I bad mouth game clocks that count up. Never again will I get upset with a 1-0 final score. I will enjoy the "beauty" of the game. I work hard to overcome my lack of understanding the game. I won't get mad at a player who goes down like he broke every bone in his body and then as if a mircle happened..he jumps up like nothing was wrong 2 seconds later as soon as the ref calls the penalty.

I will immediately start calling American football players ******* for wearing all those pads. Last but not least I will vacation with JUY-JUY next summer.

England rules!!!!!!! Nigel Benn for King!

Perhaps I shouldn't have directed this towards you... but the subject of race, ethnicity and extreme nationalism has been brought up in this thread.

Good thread, Anorak. I fall in between. I think the majority of posters here don't understand the business side of boxing. Like it or lump it, boxer's generally don't care about legacy - that is just icing on the cake if they get it. Boxers care about the money.

I think for all of the moronic boxing fans out there we have to ask one simple question:
If you had the chance to choose to make 3 million a fight in front of YOUR home fans, you wouldn't have any travel cost, and you would be able to train with your family by your side, what would you choose?

                      Nice one, Smokin'.

I think what disturbs me most is that very few boxers on a world level are great right now... America might just be having its worst-ever spell in history. But some of these guys are still being championed as greats.
