A disappointed Frankie Gavin has revealed he is gutted' after failing to once again make the 147lb welterweight limit. The former British and Commonwealth Champion lost the European Welterweight Title on the scales in Bilbao this evening after weighing in at just under 152lb (10st 11lb 5oz), just shy of five pounds over the championship limit.

This guy is such a WASTE of talent. He could 100% make 140 lbs if he trained and dieted sufficiently. He’s been done for years and this is just a cashout, but it’s still sad to see one of the most talented amateur boxers Britain has ever produced become such an embarrassment to the sport

Damn, I'd say move up to 154, but it doesn't matter, his career is ending tomorrow

He saw what happened to Skeete and thought he’d keep some extra padding just so he can last longer

One of the many overrated British fighters who, differently from others such as Crolla and Flanagan, not to mention Bellew and Cleverly, didn't even manage to win something.

Like Smith vs Ward he figured he was gonna take a one-sided beating so intentionally came in with an unfair weight advantage.

Gavin is finished and has been for a while. He might have done something at 135 but he's never had the discipline required to be a professional after what was a very good amateur career.
