Ward's first win over Kovalev is better than a potential win over Usyk

For me, before the first fight, I truly feared for Dre's safety. I mean Kovalev killed a man in the ring and was KO'ing guys with a jab to the body. Ward was coming off a long layoff with a few descent tune-up bouts. I didn't think he was ready for the first fight.

I think the Kovalev win will trump a current win over Usyk. Just my thoughts

Oh yeah, and Ward will beat Usyk at CW if he ever comes back, but if/when he does, it won't be better than his 2 Kovalev victories.

If he beats the undisputed CW champ on his first fight at CW it’s way..... way bigger then the Kovalev wins.

I believe so too. Kovalev was supposed to steamroll over Ward. A win over Usyk wouldn't be so shocking.

It depends, if he came back and totally dominated Usyk somehow I think it would unquestionably be better than at least his first victory (which he nabbed by the skin of his teeth, 72% of the media had Kovalev winning) and probably his second too, since he got a gift stoppage and was down three rounds on one scorecard and up one on the other two.

Usyk is far better than kovalev...what had kovalev really proven before facing ward. If anything, he was every bit the "hype job" people claimed ggg was before he fought Jacobs and canelo.

Usyk has dominated a division, won everything possible and unbeaten.

Kovalev didn't look great v Chilemba in his previous fight, hadn't won all his fights and it was actually debatable if he was no.1 in the division anyway.

let's not forget that most actually thought Kovalev won the first fight against Ward.

if Ward beat Usyk, it'd be far more impressive.

              1. Kovalev killed a man in the ring

              2. Knocked someone out with a jab to the body. When have you ever witnessed power like that?

              3. Unified the IBF, WBA and WBO belts.

              4. Had a close to 90% KO%

              5. Was #3 & #5 on boxings P4P lists

Many people accused Ward of ducking Kovalev

when the hell in the eyes of sane men did Ward win the first fight. LOL, FU.
He lost and was given a gift!

Usyk didn't look impressive against Bellew.

If we're being honest, the CW division has always been one of the least sought after divisions in boxing history. Many men conquered the CW division. Bellew was barely a Top 5 LHW. After being KO'd by Stevenson, he went up and became a champ at CW right away.

If David Haye beat Bellew, that wouldn't even had been one of David's top 5 wins. I'm trying to figure out how beating Usyk became so legendary for Usyk if Haye would've been laughed at had he done it? Haye clearly won the first 6 rounds of the first fight with Bellew and was on his way to a clear victory before tearing his achilles.

Usyk is a pretty good fighter, don't get me wrong. But undefeated Kovalev was scary and had career ending power. Cracked Pascal's chin which is pretty hard to do.
