What it means is they are not selling on traditional formats so are trying to sell them on as many platforms as possible. That indicates low demand amongst true boxing fans. When things make it to platforms such as Groupon it is in the hope of attracting more casual fans who just happen to see it.
There is nothing wrong with selling things on Groupon so not sure why people criticise it. But the fact tickets are on it for a supposed high demand fight doesn't suggest sales are going well at all.
The thing is if we are being honest here. Most of us here won't be buying tickets and majority will most likely stream the fight anyway. For this fight and the undercard it just isn't worth the asking price.
That said I am thinking about waiting for the day of the fight and thinking of making the flight from NY if I can get a deal on the flight. The networks might give away free tickets on the day so to not have a half empty arena.
