Prediction: This Floyd NYE fight will NOT be 100% boxing rules

It all sounds beyond ridiculous to me, especially a kick limit. IMO, it renders the event even more ridiculous if they have anything close to those rules.

Who's saying this isn't ridiculous? Its still ridiculous lol, but custom/hybrid rule fights in Asian MMA is a thing that happens all the time so this isn't that ridiculous for the market its in.

Tenshin has already fought a guy under custom rules last year. They were fighting a round of kickboxing & then a round of MMA...Tenshin KO'd him in the first round of kickboxing doe.

Not sure what Floyd's angle is at the moment, but this fight is not happening. Maybe he is being paid to promote this Tenshin guy or give attention to this Rizen league, IDK, but Floyd is not going to engage in anything close to a competitive fight with a real martial artist less than half his age. Floyd has never been known for his bravery, and he's not building courage in his old age. He is smart though, so let's sit back and see what this thing reveals itself to be.

Floyd, with help, will one day write a best-selling marketing book.

I think the rumors that Rizin either offered Floyd a piece of the company or Floyd bought a piece of Rizin & him fighting is just his first move towards him promoting a company he has a stake in are true. Rizin has been struggling by most accounts. They probably wouldn't mind some extra cash or wouldn't mind giving up a % of their company to have Floyd involved to keep them alive & ideally striving. Both sides said in the presser this isn't a one off thing.

But I would lean more towards this fight happening then not happening. And thats partially based on my belief that Floyd is already a part owner of Rizin or will be a part owner after this fight.

I could see it being mixed rules, maybe kickboxing first round(s), then switch to boxing? boxing with MMA gloves? Kickboxing without knees? I dont know. But I could see it being bit different than traditional boxing but I doubt that grappling will be allowed

Therefore I have a hard time believing that the rules will be anything other than a straight up boxing match because I don't think Floyd would be silly enough to risk it, but I could be wrong. Even a boxing match is a risk at this point for Floyd, he didn't look sharp against McGregor and he's had over another year's layoff since then.

To me, the whole talk of the rules still being worked out sounds more like they just didn't want to initially announce it as a pure boxing match for fear of a backlash. Let the hype of the announcement build, keep people intrigued, then in a week or two announce that both parties have come to an agreement and are happy for it to be boxing only. That's my take on it.

There is no question the up in the airness of this fight 9 weeks away was odd as f#ck. No sport, no rounds, just a date lol.

I feel like if its pure boxing then it won't happen cuz its a lil weird for a multiple weight division boxing champion to box against a guy 20lbs lighter who's 0-0 in boxing. At very least mfers gotta be the same size one would think. So this is super mfing weird if thats what happens.
