Prediction: This Floyd NYE fight will NOT be 100% boxing rules

I was initially thinking this fight was gonna be an obvious pure boxing match, but I think with the details of why this fight is happening, Floyd buying into or getting a piece of this Rizin company who's putting on the fight, it'll need to be a mixed rules event.

I got no clue what the rules will be exactly, but based on previous mixed rules events & rumors on what a Floyd vs McConor octagon rematch was gonna look like I think any of the below are possible:

grappling allowed, but a 5 second ground rule where if a submission is not made the fight is stood back up

the kickboxer is allowed 3 or 5 or some number of kicks per round

one round of boxing, one round of kickboxing back & forth for the duration of the fight

But the main thing is I don't believe this will be a pure boxing event. There are gonna be some hybrid rules here of some sort 100%. Or if they can't agree to hybrid rules the fight just won't happen.

Considering his opponent is 125 lbs, I'd guess he'll be allowed to use his feet. At that disadvantage he should be allowed to enter the ring with a can of pepper spray.

Yeah ESPN said they are still working out what kind of fight it will be. The article showed his instagram post wearing MMA gloves.

I agree. Reckon these guys just don't know much about the MMA scene outside of UFC and Bellator.

Rizin is fairly big and powerful with some deep pockets. There is no Pride, there is no Dream, there is no K-1, where did they go? Not many went to the very European Glory or KSW I'll tell you that.

Just does not make sense for them to put on a pure boxing match. I think the closest they get is a punching match that allows for more punch types like backfists and **** of the sort.

Unified Queensberry rules I do not see happening.

What I am thinking is that some kicks will be allowed, maybe no head kicks and no leg kicks, but they'll allow kicks to the mid section.

Truth is tenshin won a title at 135 add in the fact his walk around weight is more than likely higher than that they are probably closer in weight than anyone cares to admit. Now I’m not saying Floyd doesn’t have a weight advantage, but with that being said, Floyd at 147-154 has fought many guys who had a significant weight advantage on him.

Yea I could see this. I for sure don't think leg kicks will be allowed w/e rules are agreed to.

And if there are leg kicks allowed & no limit put on kicks this kid is gonna f#ck up Floyd's day.

Rumors have been around for awhile that Rizin is having money problems. They haven't had quite the impact the promoters former league, Pride, had either. And ONE Championships, an Asian MMA league competitor, have recently overtaken them by swiping two notable UFC fighters so I think Rizin might be making a move here that involves Floyd buying part of Rizin or owning part of Rizin for taking this fight thats high risk, high reward for them.

Oscar, victor, Canelo, Diego, and the list goes on. The fact that mayweather fought his walking around weight versus guys that cut weight and would rehydrate an extra 10-15 pounds would make Floyd the smaller guy
