The PBC strategy is suicidal

Agree. I was recently nerding out on PPV numbers & deep dived into some closed circuit info & I was finding articles from the 80's talking about how PPV was gonna kill closed circuit. Closed circuit is still around today. But why do you think PPV is dead? Because Canelo and possibly GGG will be off of them? So if that is the case, why is TR going to put Crawford on PPV in 2019? Why does Arum want to make GGG/Zurdo on PPV? I think it is a myth that PPV is dead, especially if they give you an option to purchase it through a stream like for GGG/Canelo.
The thing that has me feeling weird is all these PPV's grouped together, potentially anyway cuz I don't think all of them are official PPV's. 3 PPV's in 3 months is a bit much. I can't help but think they need to be stretching them out a lil more. But what will be interesting is how they adjust their strategy if the PPVs prove to be a failure? Obviously for Pac nothing changes as he will continue being a PPV fighter, but then if Spence/Garcia does say 150k buys, can you really put Spence on PPV next fight as well? I mean they did with GGG doing those numbers, but I'd venture to guess you will have to put Spence on FOX/SHO the next time out and then try again on PPV after that.
And hell now that Canelo is off of PPV, they need to try to make a new Cinco de Mayo PPV star out of Mikey or some other Mexican fighter. I think I'd save Mikey for May & put Errol in with someone else in February on regular TV or just have them co-headline with the PPV being hyped in February for Cinco de Mayo.Comment

It is a new day & it isn't a new day. PBC has been a thing. It is harder to judge DAZN cuz DAZN just got into boxing recently. PBC has been involved in boxing for 3.5 years now. And Haymon has been involved in boxing for like 3 decades now I believe & he's the man behind PBC so its a can't teach an old dog new tricks situation if you ask me. And PBC keeps trying to put square pegs in round holes by doing basic sh^t wrong.Comment

But the thing is, Canelo will still continue fighting on those Mexican holiday dates so those dates will still be taken. Canelo leaving certainly opened up PPV slots for others though no doubt. Lets see which one takes advantage of them.Agree. Good point on the PPVs being grouped together, but I think that was more of a coincidence than anything. For example, Wilder/Fury got set for December once the Joshua talks fell apart, Pacman signed with Haymon meaning he was going to be on PPV and then Spence/Garcia was killed for late 2018 because of Wilder/Fury so they had to push it back for early 2019. Again, I have no clue what SHO's plan is for PPVs, but I don't think it will be like FOX's. FOX is airing four PPVs a year and I'd have to think they will split it up with one in the beginning of the year, another in the spring/summer time, another in the fall and then one to end the year.
I've argued that for Wilder/Fury, they should price the PPV at $70 or $75 bucks since if someone will buy it for $60, then surely extra $10 bucks isn't going to discourage them. But if you are going to make this a bi-annual thing or a quarterly thing, then you probably want to price it at a reasonable price like $50 bucks.Comment

Sure but they are gonna have to find him & if PBC did a good job of hyping their own PPV fight (which I have no faith in in fairness) they could keep Canelo hidden for longer.
Randomly it'll be interesting to see how DAZN does Canelo's Mexican holiday fights cuz those are events & people crowd all kinds of places to watch those fights. And if the only option people have is to watch it via the app I think they will be losing some of the event-ness of Canelo fights.
I'm hoping thats the case, but idk PBC's thought process a lot of the time.Good point on the PPVs being grouped together, but I think that was more of a coincidence than anything.
Yea that all sounds pretty reasonable. I just hope PBC is being reasonable. For example, Wilder/Fury got set for December once the Joshua talks fell apart, Pacman signed with Haymon meaning he was going to be on PPV and then Spence/Garcia was killed for late 2018 because of Wilder/Fury so they had to push it back for early 2019. Pbc
PBC is going to survive as the only real PPV service just based on the traditionalist idea of everyone getting together to watch a fight on cable. As long as fighters like Al Haymon, there will be PBC, but their presentation is terrible and their fighters are inexplicably inactive. How the hell does this work? All of the proven PPV draws are now behind a $10 subscription. Its madness that you combat this with all your best guys going behind a PPV wall, not one of them proven to be able to carry it. Someone explain to me how this works WBC WBA IBF, get in here i havent blocked you. I want you to tell m3 how this **** works, a load of PPVs noone even asked forComment
